A few things for your week.

Hope, rhythm, and community.

Hey there SCC Family !

Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol 2. Issue 48!
Apparently, Paul was doing the “stay alert” thing long before notifications existed.

On Sunday, Joel walked us through Colossians 4:2 to 6 and the simple rhythm it gives us. Prayer, gratitude, and attentiveness help us return to Jesus as our steady center. These verses show how wisdom grows in ordinary places and remind us that maturity forms through small, faithful choices in our conversations, our community, and the way we move through each day.

A playful reminder that sometimes the shortest reads stay with us the longest. The blog gives a quick glimpse into the heart of Sunday’s teaching and offers a moment to slow down and realign your focus for the week ahead.

If listening fits your rhythm better, the Between the Shores podcast is ready too. It offers the same heartbeat in a format you can take with you on a walk, during a drive, or while the kettle boils. You can listen to it here.

Missed Sunday’s Message?
We’ve got you. Our Sunday messages are available as a podcast—great for your next walk, commute, or dishwashing session. Just search Summerside Community Church on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. You can also watch the full message anytime on our sermon hub.

Advent begins this weekend with the candle of Hope and a gentle reminder that Jesus is close in every season. Joel will take us into Paul’s closing words in Colossians, where we meet everyday believers whose steady faith kept the early church strong. It is a simple picture of how ordinary lives can carry the story of Jesus forward.

Pre-Service Prayer
Before the service begins, our prayer team will be available from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. in front of the Prayer Room. It is a quiet space to breathe, settle your heart, and invite God’s presence before the morning gets moving. If you would like someone to pray with you, the team would love to come alongside you.

All month long we have been remembering that caring for vulnerable children has been part of SCC’s story from the very beginning. It is something God has woven into our heart as a church. As we honour Adoption Month, let’s pray for every child waiting for family and stability, asking that they would know the love and security of God the Father. Let’s also lift up the families who foster, adopt, and open their homes with compassion, praying for strength and joy as they continue to love well. And as a church, may we keep walking in this legacy of care, supporting the places and ministries where God has connected us around the world.

Prayer Focus: Pray for families who foster or adopt. Ask God to give them renewed strength, gentle patience, and joy as they welcome children into their homes.

Applications are open for our 2026 team, and we would love to explore this with anyone who feels a nudge to go. We will have a short information session right after church on December 7. You can apply online or scan the QR code on Sunday. The deadline to apply is the end of December.

We are so grateful for every act of generosity that fuels the mission here at SCC. It has been encouraging to see what has been accomplished together this year. Below is a short video update from Darren, our Treasurer, sharing a few highlights and next steps.

Christmas Blessing
One of our favourite traditions is coming together to lift up families who could use a little extra care at Christmas. Our goal this year is $3,000, and every gift helps us bring hope and practical support right where it is needed. If you would like to be part of it, simply mark “Christmas Blessing” on your envelope or include it in the memo line of your e-transfer. Thank you for helping us make this season brighter for those around us.

Nativity: Night of Music returns to the Harbourfront Theatre on December 22 at 6:30 p.m. This community production brings the Christmas story to life through music, movement, and a cast of children. Familiar carols such as “Silent Night,” “Away in a Manger,” and “Angels We Have Heard on High” are woven into a creative retelling of Jesus’ birth. There will also be a special performance at St. Paul’s Parish on December 21 at 4:00 p.m., and no tickets are required for that performance.

We are grateful to the Summerside Christian Council, the Harbourfront Theatre, and St. Dunstan’s University for partnering with us to share this story with our wider community.

For details or to reserve seats, visit harbourfronttheatre.com or call the box office at 902-888-2500.

Christmas Eve is almost here, and our church family will gather at 4 p.m. for From Everlasting to Manger. It’s a simple, beautiful moment to pause and remember that Jesus didn’t begin at Bethlehem; He stepped into our world from eternity to redeem and reign forever. We’d love for you to join us as we celebrate the One who has always been with us.

In a week filled with movement and noise, even a small pause can help us notice God again. Rest gives us room to remember that Jesus is present, guiding and shaping us in quiet ways. Let this be a moment to breathe, slow your pace, and lean into the steady grace that holds you.

Shirley and Jack Ferguson add a lot of heart to our church family. You will often find them greeting at the door, praying with others, or encouraging creativity in the art group. Their steady presence and kindness have shaped our community in quiet but meaningful ways, and we are grateful for all they bring.

Looking to get more involved? Joining a team is a great way to build community, discover your strengths, and help others experience Jesus along the way. From making coffee to running slides, greeting at the door to helping with kids—there’s a place for you. Let’s find it together.

There’s always something taking shape at SCC—and we’d love for you to be part of it. From upcoming events to ways to serve and grow, our website is the best place to explore what’s happening. Take a look and find your next step.

For the days ahead…
The space between Sundays is where so much of our faith is lived out, and this week’s reflections invited us to pay attention to that space with fresh eyes. Joel reminded us that staying prayerful, grateful, and alert creates room to hear God in ways we often miss. As you move through the days ahead, take a moment to quiet the noise, hold onto what God is stirring in you, and trust that Jesus meets you right where you are.

Thanks for being part of what God is building here. We love walking this out with you—and we’ll see you Sunday.

P.S. Even a quiet step toward rest or thankfulness can steady your whole week.
