A Question Worth Sitting With

Staying open when life presses in.

Hey there SCC Family !

Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol 3. Issue 5!
Sunday’s teaching asked a simple but searching question. When pressure shows up, what actually leads us? Reacting often feels automatic, but belief forms something steadier over time. This week’s reflection invites us to notice our posture and consider what it looks like to stay open and responsive with Jesus in the middle of real life.

Sunday’s theme does not end at the door. The blog and the Between the Shores podcast help bring the conversation into everyday life. Use the buttons below to read or listen.

Pre-Service Prayer
Prayer is available before the service from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. If you would like someone to pray with you, the prayer team will be near the Prayer Room in the Great Room.

This week, we begin a new series called Doorway to Hope, with Tracy and Temba leading us off. When fear and uncertainty press in around money, it can be easy to lose sight of hope in everyday life. This series creates space for honest stories, growing trust, and a deeper confidence in how God meets us right where we are.

Kids Church meets in the Kids Wing, and classes get started right at the beginning of the service. The Kids Wing door closes once classes are underway, so arriving early helps kids ease into their space and supports our amazing Kids Church team as they care for your children.

Our nursery serves children ages one and two, and we are looking for one volunteer to join the team. The role follows a simple rotation of one week on and two weeks off. If you are interested, please talk with Freddy or email him at [email protected]

Save the Date for an evening of community, shared stories, and vision. We will take time to reflect on where God has been at work and look ahead to what is coming next. This will be a relaxed evening with space to listen, connect, and imagine together. Refreshments will be provided.

Sabbath reminds us that life with Jesus begins in relationship, not effort. It is a weekly invitation to stop striving, receive what God is offering, and remember that we are held by His faithfulness. Rest becomes a quiet way of saying yes again to trust, presence, and love.

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a season that invites honesty, humility, and return. This service creates space to pause, reflect, and remember who we are before God. Through Scripture, prayer, communion, and the receiving of ashes, we turn our attention toward God and step into the weeks ahead with openness and trust.

Lent & Baptism
From the earliest days of the church, Lent has been a season of preparation. It began as a focused time of prayer and reflection for those preparing for baptism at Easter, and over time the whole church entered that journey together. Lent invites us to notice what is being formed in us and to respond with openness and trust as we walk toward new life in Jesus.

Baptism sits at the heart of this season, marking a visible step into life with Jesus and into the community of faith. Baptism Sunday is coming up, and if baptism has been on your mind, we would love to walk through that conversation with you. Click the button below or sign up at the Hub on Sunday, and someone will be in touch to help you take the next step.

Deep Cleaning Days
Our building serves a lot of people each week, and this is a simple way to care for it together. A few hands and a little time help keep our shared spaces welcoming for everyone who walks through the doors. Join for any portion of the time. Sign up using the button below or at the Hub on Sunday.

Titus Stimson brings steady leadership to our Thrive Young Adult group and is a consistent, encouraging presence with our youth. He shows up with care, reliability, and a genuine desire to invest in the next generation. We are thankful for the way he quietly strengthens our community.

Looking to get more involved? Joining a team is a great way to build community, discover your strengths, and help others experience Jesus along the way. From making coffee to running slides, greeting at the door to helping with kids—there’s a place for you. Let’s find it together.

There’s always something taking shape at SCC—and we’d love for you to be part of it. From upcoming events to ways to serve and grow, our website is the best place to explore what’s happening. Take a look and find your next step.

As you step into the days ahead, pay attention to what pressure is forming in you. Notice when your instinct is to dig in or pull back. Choosing belief often looks like staying open, leaning forward, and trusting that God is already at work in places we cannot fully see yet.

Thanks for being part of what God is building here. We love walking this out with you. See you Sunday.

P.S. Belief is not passive. It is a quiet decision to stay responsive when it would be easier to resist. That posture can change more than we realize.
