Almighty, Actually.

Strong enough to shape stars. Close enough to call you child.

Hey there SCC Family !

Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol 2. Issue 28!
There are 52 Thursdays in a year—and this one is pulling its weight. This week, Scott drew our focus to the opening line of the Nicene Creed: God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. It’s a bold declaration about the nature of God—strong, creative, and deeply personal. He’s the Father who holds galaxies in His hands and still invites us to draw near. A message like this reminds us what it means to truly believe—and to belong.

Listen on the Go! You can catch Sunday’s message in podcast form—available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Just search Summerside Community Church and listen anytime. You can also watch the full message anytime on our website’s sermon hub.

Sometimes the message hits differently the second time around. The blog gives a simple, thoughtful recap of what we explored together, and the newest Between the Shores episode is now live on YouTube—ready when you are.

Natasha is in the office Monday to Thursday, and as a summer rhythm, the office will be closed on Friday mornings. Thanks for planning ahead—we appreciate you!

This Sunday, Joel is picking up with week 4 of our We Believe series—and the focus is on Jesus. We’ll be looking at what it means to call Him Lord, the only Son of God, and why that matters more than ever. Expect a rich look at Scripture, from creation through to the Cross, and how the identity of Jesus shapes our own.

Gracie and Nathan have been deep in the trenches—editing slides, leading games, hauling gear, planning events, and yes… vacuuming. It’s all part of the adventure. Each week, they’ll be giving us a window into what they’ve been learning, where they’ve been stretched, and how God is meeting them in the middle of it all.

This week, we jumped in to help set up for a youth event at the Baptist Church and started planning for the big barbecue—checklists and all. We also pitched in with youth group night, making sure things ran smoothly behind the scenes. Safe to say, we’re becoming pros at setup and logistics!

Highlights!

Nathan’s highlight was pushing water bottles in a wheelchair from the kids wing to the kitchen. While Gracie Mae’s highlight was running away from Nathan in the wheelchair to put it back where we found it.

Challenges!

Our challenge this week was setting up hundreds of chairs in hot weather, adding to that Nathan gained Cathedraphobia during this long and tiring week. (It’s a thing… Natasha googled it.)

This weeks lessons…

I learned this week to look at the hard work we are doing and see we are doing this for the people we love. And humbling ourselves into doing this for people we don’t even know.
- Gracie Mae

I learned this week that God will show himself to you in ways you will not be expecting, whether it be through people, or things you see. He is all around us and all you have to do is look for him.
- Nathan

A funny and unexpected moment this week? Gracie got to dump water on Nathan’s head twice while filming a youth group video—and he took it like a champ (mostly)!

Baptism Sunday is coming up on August 3, and if you’ve been sensing that nudge, we’d love to walk with you. It’s a beautiful step of trust and obedience—and you don’t have to take it alone. We’re here to listen, answer questions, and help you prepare if this is your moment.

We’re keeping things simple this July 27: church, then barbecue. Nothing fancy—just good food, familiar faces, and a chance to slow down and enjoy time together. Bring something to share if you can, or just bring yourself. Either way, you’re invited. If you’d like to bring something to share, let us know what’s coming by signing up below.

Where in the world is SCC going in 2026?
We’re dropping clues each week—and so far, this destination is sounding pretty epic.

This week’s clue:
💧 It’s loud, it’s powerful, and it never takes a day off.

We’re not just going for the view. We’re going to serve, to love, and to be the Church. Any guesses? Stay tuned—more to come soon.

Quarterly Missions Giving Update –
On Sunday, we heard from Pastor James in Kenya—someone we’ve had the privilege of supporting through your giving. Thanks to a piece of rented farmland and a whole lot of teamwork, they’ve harvested enough to feed the 48 children in their care until March 2026.

It’s more than food—it’s stability, education, and hope. If you’d like to hear directly from James and see the impact firsthand, check out the video below. And if you’d like to learn more about James and his work, feel free to connect with Debs or someone from the missions team.

It’s easy to fill every margin with movement. But rest reminds us that God isn’t rushing us—He’s inviting us. What would it look like to slow your pace and trust His?

For over 25 years, Kayla has been showing up for our kids—teaching, encouraging, and probably handing out more goldfish crackers than we can count. Her steady presence and big heart have made Kids Church a place where little lives are nurtured in big ways. We’re so grateful for her faithfulness and the joy she brings every week.

There’s a place for you here. Serving on a team isn’t just about filling a spot—it’s about finding your fit, building relationships, and helping others encounter Jesus along the way. Love people, coffee, kids, or tech? There’s a team that would love to have you.

There’s always something unfolding around here—and we’d love for you to be part of it. If it’s been a while since you’ve checked out the website, now’s a great time. It’s the easiest way to find out what’s coming up, sign up for events, and stay in the loop with SCC life.

One More Thought…
When we say “God the Father Almighty,” we’re not just reciting words—we’re anchoring our lives in a truth that holds everything else together. As you step into the rest of this week, hold fast to that foundation. You are seen, known, and loved by the One who creates, sustains, and calls you His.

See You Sunday- We love building this community with you. Thanks for showing up, leaning in, and walking this journey of faith together.

P.S. The way we see God shapes everything. When we believe He’s a good Father—strong, present, and full of love—it changes how we pray, how we trust, and how we live.
