Before You Try to Fix It...
There’s Another Way Through This

Hey there SCC Family !
Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol 3. Issue 7!
Before we rush to fix what feels tight, uncertain, or heavy, Sunday invited us to pause. Tracy and Temba led us into an honest conversation about fear, money, and the quiet pressure to handle it all ourselves. Instead of scrambling for control, we were reminded that discipleship begins in listening. Faith grows when we slow down long enough to ask what Jesus is saying and then choose to trust Him step by step. This is not passive. It is courageous. And it reshapes the heart.
Still sitting with Sunday? Good. That usually means something is shifting. The blog captures the heart behind the conversation and gives you space to reflect a little deeper. It is honest, practical, and meant to move with you into the week. Between the Shores continues that dialogue with real stories and thoughtful next steps. Take a few minutes to lean in and see what God might be highlighting for you.

Pre-Service Prayer
Prayer is available before the service from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. If you would like someone to pray with you, the prayer team will be near the Prayer Room in the Great Room.
This Sunday, Don DesRoches continues our series Doorway for Hope with a teaching on tithing, followed by a question and response time.
Tithing is not about obligation. It is about trust. From the earliest rhythms of Scripture, giving has been rooted in recognizing God as the source and ourselves as stewards. Generosity shapes the heart. It forms dependence on God rather than dependence on what we hold. Don will explore the biblical foundation of tithing, how it strengthens both the church and the individual, and why it remains a meaningful practice for discipleship. Bring your questions. Honest conversation is part of how we grow.
![]() | Kids Church meets in the Kids Wing, and classes get started right at the beginning of the service. The Kids Wing door closes once classes are underway, so arriving early helps kids ease into their space and supports our amazing Kids Church team as they care for your children. |
Our nursery serves children ages one and two, and we are looking for one volunteer to join the team. The role follows a simple rotation of one week on and two weeks off. If you are interested, please talk with Freddy or email him at [email protected]

Join us for From Strength to Strength on Saturday, February 21 at 6:30 p.m. This will be more than a reflection night. It is an opportunity to see where God has been moving among us and to step into what He is shaping next. We will share stories, celebrate growth, and look ahead with clarity and courage. Come ready to listen, to imagine, and to move forward together. Refreshments will be provided.

Tax Information:
We are preparing tax receipts. If your mailing address has changed since last year, please email the church office at [email protected]. A quick update now helps prevent delays later. Thank you for helping us keep everything accurate and organized..

“O Lord… You know me more deeply and fully than I know myself.
You love me with a greater love than I can love myself.”
—Henri Nouwen
Let this be your reminder this week. You are already known. You are already held. Bring your tired body, your full schedule, and your restless thoughts to Him. Sit for a few quiet minutes. Breathe slowly. Receive the steady love of God and allow your soul to settle in His care.
![]() | Ash Wednesday on February 18 marks the beginning of Lent, a season that invites honesty, humility, and return. This service creates space to pause, reflect, and remember who we are before God. Through Scripture, prayer, communion, and the receiving of ashes, we turn our attention toward Him and step into the weeks ahead with openness and trust. |
Lent & Baptism
From the earliest days of the church, Lent has been a season of preparation. It began as a focused time of prayer and reflection for those preparing for baptism at Easter, and over time the whole church entered that journey together. Lent invites us to notice what is being formed in us and to respond with openness and trust as we walk toward new life in Jesus.
Baptism sits at the heart of this season, marking a visible step into life with Jesus and into the community of faith. Baptism Sunday is coming up, and if baptism has been on your mind, we would love to walk through that conversation with you. Click the button below or sign up at the Hub on Sunday, and someone will be in touch to help you take the next step.

Walk this out…
The doorway of hope is not theoretical. It opens right in the middle of real pressure. You may be stepping toward something new. You may be coming to God asking for help. Either way, He meets you there. Ask Him what trust looks like in your actual numbers, your actual conversations, your actual decisions. Then take one step. We are learning to walk this out together.
Thanks for being part of what God is building here. We love walking this out with you. See you Sunday.

P.S. If something stirred in you on Sunday, do not brush it aside. Sit with it. Pray about it. Trust often begins with a small yes..
