Building Space to Breathe

Everyday decisions shaped by Jesus.

Hey there SCC Family !

Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol 3. Issue 9!
Sometimes a simple decision or conversation reveals what has been shaping us beneath the surface. When pressure rises, we begin to notice what is happening inside our hearts.

On Sunday, we were invited to bring those honest places to Jesus. Scripture reminds us that God cares about real circumstances and sees the details we carry, including the questions that keep us awake at night. Jesus stepped into our world and understands what it means to trust the Father in uncertainty. The invitation was steady and practical, encouraging us to start somewhere, to notice what surfaces within us, and to bring our decisions before Him. As we follow Jesus together, faith grows through everyday trust, and mercy meets us along the way.

Conversations do not end on Sunday. This week’s blog continues the reflection, exploring how trust grows over time and how Jesus meets us in the practical details of life. The Between the Shores podcast also carries the conversation further, sharing stories of hope, wisdom, and the steady way God shapes our hearts. If you are still processing, both offer space to keep listening and learning.

Pre-Service Prayer
Prayer is available before the service from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. If you would like someone to pray with you, our prayer team will be near the Prayer Room in the Great Room. This is a quiet space to settle your heart, lay down what feels heavy, and invite Jesus to meet you before we gather. You are always welcome.

This Sunday, Andrew Bryce will be sharing a message titled With Jesus, There’s Always More Than Enough. He will tell a few modern day parables drawn from his own journey and from the life of our church family, reflecting on the generous ways God has carried us over the past 28 years.

As we continue learning what everyday trust looks like, this message turns our attention toward generosity that flows from confidence in Jesus. When we see His heart clearly, our own hearts begin to open. We look forward to gathering around Scripture and listening together.

On Sunday mornings, a small hand reaches for a volunteer and heads toward the nursery. It seems simple, yet it creates space for a child to feel safe and for a parent to worship with peace.

Our nursery serves ages one and two, and we are looking for one more volunteer to join the team, serving one week on and two weeks off. If you feel prompted to help care for our youngest ones, please connect with Freddy or email him at [email protected].

Tax Information:
If you were not able to pick up your tax receipt on Sunday, it has been mailed to you. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out and we will be glad to help.

Last Saturday, we held our annual Strength to Strength meeting and shared stories of God’s faithfulness in our church family. It was a meaningful time of reflection, vision, and gratitude.

If you were unable to attend, the recording is available below. We invite you to take some time to listen and celebrate what God is doing among us.

Deep Cleaning Days Postponed!
Please note that our Deep Cleaning Days have been rescheduled. They will now take place on March 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. and March 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There is something meaningful about caring for the space where we gather to worship and pray. A few hours together makes a real difference. You can sign up below or at the Hub on Sunday. If these new dates do not work for you, check the whiteboard in the lobby and choose a task to complete during office hours in the weeks ahead.

Lent invites us to slow down and learn to listen again. The Lectio 365 Prayer App offers short, Scripture rooted reflections each day, shaped by the historic practice of Lectio Divina. It is a simple way to create space, hear Jesus, and let His Word steady you over these 40 days.

Lent began as a season of preparation for baptism, inviting people to examine their hearts and renew their trust in God. That same invitation continues today.

Baptism Sunday is March 29 here at SCC, and we are preparing our own baptism pool. If you sense a growing readiness to take this step with Jesus, we would be honoured to walk that conversation with you. Sign up below or visit the Hub on Sunday.

March is Missions Giving Month. Ten percent of all General Fund giving in March will support Open Door Outreach, a local ministry serving individuals and families in our community. As we give, we join in the work of bringing practical care and hope close to home.

Our Niagara Mission Team has been selected and will be hosting their first fundraiser on March 21. Join them for a movie night with pizza, popcorn, and pop. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the movie begins at 7 p.m.

Tickets will be available at the door. Movie admission is $12, with pizza for $6, popcorn for $3, and pop for $2. You can also choose the $20 all-in package, which includes everything. Families of four or more can enjoy the full package for $60.

The Watoto Children’s Choir has been sharing a message of hope around the world since 1984, and we are looking forward to welcoming them here on April 30 as they present songs from their new album, Better Days—There Is Hope. It will be a joyful evening of music and testimony that points us to the faithfulness of God.

We are also looking for up to 10 host homes to provide accommodation for the team on the night of the concert, typically hosting two choir children and one young adult chaperone. If you are able to open your home, please email the office to let us know. We would love to hear from you.

“Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me. ”
—Matthew 11:29

Jesus invites us with simple words: “Simply join your life with mine… You will find refreshment and rest in me.” In a week filled with decisions and responsibilities, His invitation remains steady. Joining our lives to His means walking at His pace, learning His heart, and trusting that He is gentle with us. Take a few quiet minutes this week to sit with Him. Let His presence slow you down and restore what feels stretched.

Audrey Gee Arsenault brings a steady warmth wherever she serves. When she hosts, people feel it. She notices the small details, steps in quietly, and carries a calm presence that helps others settle in. Her faithfulness and readiness to help make a real difference in the life of our church, and we are grateful for the way she leads with simple consistency.

If you’re sensing a desire to step in a little more, serving on a team is a meaningful place to begin. It’s where friendships grow, gifts are discovered, and everyday moments become part of how others encounter Jesus. Preparing coffee, running slides, welcoming at the door, or caring for children all play a quiet role in shaping our life together. We would be glad to help you find a place that fits.

Every week, someone takes a simple next step. A conversation begins. A team is joined. A quiet yes starts to grow. Our website is one of the places those steps begin. You will find upcoming events, ways to serve, and space to explore what might be next for you.

Trust grows in the ordinary places of life. In the bills on the counter, the conversations around the table, and the quiet choices no one else sees, Jesus is present and attentive. He cares about the details, and He walks with us as we learn to trust Him more deeply. As you step into the week ahead, remember that your small yes matters. God delights in faithful beginnings, and He is able to do far more than we see in the moment. You are not walking this road alone.

Thank you for being part of this church family. It is a gift to walk this journey of faith together. We look forward to seeing you Sunday.

P.S. What is one practical step of trust you can take this week? Start there. Jesus will meet you in it.
