Burn Bright

The Bridge Weekly Vol 2 Issue 9

Hey SCC Family !

Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol. 2, Issue 9—where we navigate the highs and lows of our faith journey. This past Sunday, Tracy reminded us that life is a blend of mountaintop moments and the pressing trials that reveal our true strength—just as olives must be crushed to yield pure, golden oil. Her message, woven with the parable of the bridesmaids in Matthew 25, challenges us to stay prepared and open to God’s refining work. We’re also excited to share that our Listening & Responding series is now called Between the Shores. Explore the links below for more insights from our latest blog and the podcast.

This coming Sunday, Colby will continue our Crushed, Poured, Prepared: Faith That Doesn’t Quit series with “Anointed for Purpose: Being Set Apart for His Glory.” He will share how God’s Spirit anoints us for a unique calling in our everyday lives—just as David was chosen while still tending sheep—and remind us that being set apart isn’t reserved for some future big moment, but is meant to be lived out right now. Colby’s message will challenge us to see our daily tasks as opportunities to reflect His light, much like a well-oiled lamp that shines brightly with continuous Spirit empowerment.

Temba will have tax receipts ready for pick-up in the lobby on Sunday. Be sure to stop by and collect yours!

Before we do anything, we’re called to be worshippers of Jesus. If you’re passionate about worship and looking to deepen your connection with Him, the worship intensive course is just for you.

This series offers practical insights from Scripture to help you grow in consistency and effectiveness in your worship. Starting March 9th, join us on Sundays from 1–2 pm in the SCC Multipurpose Room for an inspiring time of prayer, learning, and discussion.

Our 2024 Annual Report is ready for download! This report highlights all that God has done over the past year and how your generosity has made a lasting impact. From ministry updates to financial transparency, it’s a glimpse of what we’ve accomplished together. “I am in the mountains of Oaxaca right now. We are trying to open up missions with a tribe called the Triqui.” - Josue Ruse

Throughout March, 10% of our General Fund is going to Kaleo International as they equip leaders and share Jesus worldwide. Kaleo Central in Kenya serves as the main base for their work in East Africa, where the goal is to complete 15 church buildings this year. These churches began as humble house gatherings—meeting under trees until the congregation outgrew their space—and now, local communities are acquiring land and even making their own bricks. With materials for essentials like trusses and a metal roof costing around $1500 USD, Josue Muse highlights this as the greatest need right now. Your generosity makes a real impact, spreads the gospel, empowers others on their faith journey, and supports these transformative building projects. Thank you for giving and being part of sharing the good news of Jesus to the remote corners of the world.

Loaves & Fishes could use our help! They’re looking for 125 ml and 250 ml mason jars (or small jam jars) and totes with lids that fully close. If you have these items, it would make a real difference. You can also drop off bottles at Don’s Bottle Exchange and mention Loaves & Fishes (LAF) to have the proceeds donated.

They’re also seeking pantry essentials like regular beans (not black beans), soup, mac’n cheese, cereal, granola bars, coffee (not instant), tea bags, applesauce, pudding cups, cheese, onions, carrots, celery, and hamburger meat. Your donations help Loaves & Fishes support families and individuals who rely on these vital resources. Let’s bless them together!

Darren Stretch—a true jack-of-all-trades in our church community. As an Elder and our board’s Treasurer, he helps steer our church, and he also spends time teaching our big kids in Kids Church. On top of that, Darren contributes to our financial committee, supports the missions leadership team, and plays a key role in our men’s ministry. We’re genuinely grateful for all he does to keep our community thriving.

As we wrap up today, let’s remember that maturity doesn’t happen overnight. Real faith grows when we endure pressure, even when it lingers. We’re invited to keep our lamps filled, like the wise bridesmaids, trusting the Holy Spirit to work in us while we wait. Jesus left the fullness of heaven to show us the way to the Father, reminding us we don’t walk alone. Let’s stay connected, support one another, and live with expectant hearts. Together, we can embrace His love, hold onto hope, and be the community He’s called us to be.

Thanks for checking out this week’s Bridge Weekly! We’re glad you’re part of the conversation and hope you walk in God’s peace, love, and joy this week. We look forward to sharing more soon!

P.S. Isaiah 61:1 reminds us that the Spirit of the Lord is upon us, equipping us to share good news, comfort the brokenhearted, and free those in darkness. Let this promise inspire you to shine hope and kindness throughout your week.
