Complete Justice. Complete Love.
The Cross doesn’t settle for one or the other—it holds both.

Hey there SCC Family !
Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol 2. Issue 31!
What do you do when something is both beautiful and costly? You stop and look closer.
This week, Joel explored the tension at the heart of our faith—how Jesus’ atonement holds together two of our deepest longings: justice and mercy. From the garden to the cross, God didn’t ignore sin, and He didn’t abandon His people. Instead, He stepped right into the tension. The cross isn’t just where wrongs are made right—it’s where love is poured out fully.
The conversation doesn’t end on Sunday. The blog gives you space to pause and reflect—to let the message linger a little longer and meet you where you are. And this week’s Between the Shores podcast keeps the dialogue going with real talk about the tension we often live in: holding truth and grace, justice and mercy. It’s honest, encouraging, and full of those moments that make you stop and think.
| | Listen on the Go! You can catch Sunday’s message in podcast form—available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Just search Summerside Community Church and listen anytime. You can also watch the full message anytime on our website’s sermon hub. |

Need to get in touch or drop by? Natasha is in the office Monday through Thursday. As part of our summer rhythm, the office remains closed on Friday mornings—thanks for planning ahead!

This Sunday, we’re pausing our We Believe series for something a little different. Henk Visser will be sharing Part II of a three-part introduction to the Healing Trauma Conference theme: “Kingdom Keys to Unlock and Heal Trauma.” It’s a message that speaks to freedom, healing, and the authority we’ve been given to walk in both.

A note from Pastor Colby…
We’ll be gathering for Youth tonight at 7 pm as usual—but with space to slow down and check in. Our community has experienced a deep loss, and many of our students are walking through grief right now. Tonight is a chance to talk, to pray, and to be reminded that Jesus meets us in our sorrow. If your teenager needs support or someone to talk to, we’re here. Thank you for being a church that holds space for healing—and continues to hope in Christ.

📌 From creative projects to random surprises, Gracie and Nathan have been jumping into all kinds of tasks this week. Here’s their latest report—complete with highlights, challenges, and a few unexpected moments along the way.
| Highlights! “My highlight was designing cool posts for Elev8 Youth.” – Gracie Mae “Mine was putting together a tent without instructions.” – Nathan | Challenges! “Trying to figure out where the extra tent pole came from definitely threw me off.” – Gracie Mae “I kept forgetting items for the Youth Boys Camping Trip shopping list… so that was fun.” – Nathan |
This weeks lessons… God can speak through anything—even our Instagram Reels.

This week, we’re welcoming a mission team of university students from Ohio State University, here through Praying Pelican Missions. They’ll be staying in our building and serving throughout the community—meeting needs, offering support, and sharing God’s love in practical ways.
| Their heart is to show up with joy, compassion, and a willingness to help wherever they’re needed. Let’s be praying for them as they serve and experience all that God has in store during their time on the Island. |

Rest doesn’t mean stepping out of the tension—it means learning to carry it with Jesus. The cross shows us what it looks like to hold justice and mercy, grief and hope, all in the same breath. This week, rest in the truth that you don’t have to solve every tension. You’re invited to bring it to the One who already holds it all together.

Walk This Out
The tension is real—but so is the invitation. This week reminded us that the cross didn’t erase tension; it showed us how to live in it. Between truth and grace, justice and mercy, Jesus made a way—and now He walks with us as we live it out. So here’s to a week of humility, trust, and courage. Let’s carry the tension, but let Jesus carry us.
See You Sunday- We love doing life and faith with you. Let’s keep showing up, lifting Jesus high, and living it out together.

P.S. Some weeks feel heavy with questions—and that’s okay. The cross doesn’t ask us to pretend everything’s tidy. It invites us to stay close, stay soft, and trust the One who holds it all.
