Eyes on Jesus. Always.

When our focus shifts, so does our direction.

Hey there SCC Family !

Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol 2. Issue 21! Ever feel like your brain opened 17 tabs and forgot why? You’re not alone. Sunday’s message reminded us that a Jesus-shaped life means learning to focus—really focus—on what matters. Colby walked us through Philippians 3:12–21, showing us how the cross doesn’t just save us; it reshapes how we live, think, and wait for what’s to come.

Missed Sunday? The message is available on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify—just search Summerside Community Church You can also catch the full message anytime on our website’s sermon hub.

The blog is usually updated early in the week with a short reflection from the message—and it should be live now (even while Natasha is off recovering from surgery!). If it’s not, check back soon.

And if you’d rather listen on the go,the Between the Shores podcast is up too—perfect for your next walk, drive, or coffee break. Since Natasha is writing this a little early, she doesn’t have the direct link yet—but you can find it on our YouTube channel.

Since a few of you have asked—yes, Natasha is recovering well (and no, she hasn’t answered a single email while on pain meds). While she’s off, a few faithful folks are holding down the fort—answering phones, checking messages, and keeping things humming.

Quick heads-up: the office will be closed on Friday mornings for the summer. You can catch us Monday through Thursday if you need anything!

Joel is up with Message #7 in our Jesus-Shaped Life series: “Pray About Everything.” We’re digging into Philippians 4:1–9, where Paul lays out a clear, practical path to peace: bring everything to God in prayer.

Instead of being ruled by anxiety, Paul invites us to shape our days with prayer, thanksgiving, and trust. It’s not about having it all together—it’s about turning to the One who holds us together.

Every Saturday at 6:30 PM, we’re creating space at Centre 150 to pause, pray, and listen together. There’s no agenda—just a shared desire to seek God and see what the Spirit might do.

This rhythm flows out of the heart of our 22-day prayer initiative, and many of you shared how meaningful that time was. We’re continuing with a focus on praying for Canada—its leaders, its people, and its future. If you’re longing for hope, healing, or just a quiet hour to be with Jesus, come join us.

Tracy’s sabbatical is officially underway—and we’re praying it’s a time of real rest and renewal for her. Every seven years, we make space for this kind of focused time away: not a break from calling, but a return to it with fresh clarity and strength.

It’s also an invitation for us, as a church, to lean in together. If you’re curious about how Sabbath rhythms can shape your own life, check out the Rediscovering Sabbath handout here. Tracy also recommends two great reads: The Sacred Slow by Alicia Britt Chole and The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer—just search them online to get started.

“Sabbath isn’t just rest from making things. It’s rest from having to make something of yourself.” —A.J. Swoboda

What if Sabbath is less about stepping back from your work, and more about remembering you’re already deeply loved without it? That’s the kind of rest God offers—not escape, but identity.

This summer, we’ve got the opportunity to invest in someone stepping into ministry—and we’re aiming to raise $4,000 to make it happen. Every dollar goes toward hands-on training, mentorship, and meaningful leadership experience for our student intern.

You can give in all the usual ways (cash, cheque, eTransfer—just note “summer student”), or just reply to this email or click the button below.

Thanks for helping us pour into what’s next.

Spring Cleanup, Round Two - We made a solid dent in the mess last weekend—but the flowerbeds still need some love. If you’ve got a pair of gloves and a couple of hours to spare, we’ll be out on Wednesday, May 28 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM giving the grounds a final tidy-up.

Want to jump in? Sign up here or stop by the Hub on Sunday.
