God Has You

The Bridge #26 - I Could Sing of His Love Forever!

Hey there, SCC Family!

Welcome to the 26th edition of The Bridge—can you believe it's been half a year of connections already? If we kept a diary of all our Thursdays together, it might just start to feel like a sitcom! As we gear up for Canada Day this Monday, it feels like a perfect time to celebrate our community's growth and unity.

This week, Josh brought Romans 8 to life, inviting us to reflect deeply on the life-changing power of living by the Spirit versus the flesh. He connected the dots from Romans to Colossians and even Philemon, emphasizing that a life focused on the Spirit leads to peace and vibrant living. The message is clear: when we set our hearts on spiritual matters, life blossoms. If you missed his sermon or simply just want to hear it again, click here.

Just as we sang on Sunday, "I will sing of your love forever," this scripture reminds us that we're cradled in the capable hands of a loving God. Romans 8 doesn’t just teach; it reassures us that we're more than conquerors, secured in His unstoppable love. For those who want to revisit the joy and depth of this promise, tune into the cherished words of "I Will Sing of Your Love Forever" here.

And there's more nourishment for your spiritual journey! Don't miss Tracy's latest Listening & Responding episode. It's another opportunity to absorb and reflect on the messages that shape our walk with Christ.

Each scripture, each sermon, and every song reminds us: God has us. He is at work, and we can find rest in His eternal promise.

This Sunday, we’re eager to continue our exploration of Romans 8, with Josh guiding us through verses 12-17. In this passage, we’ll uncover the joyful truth that we are not bound to live according to the flesh but are children of God, led by His Spirit. It tells us about our beautiful adoption into God’s family, allowing us to call Him "Abba, Father!" This understanding shapes not only our identity but also how we live every day.

Make sure to stick around after the service for our Connect Cafe! It’s the perfect place to enjoy some coffee, catch up, and connect. Whether you’re sharing stories or making new friends, it’s a wonderful way to wrap up a spiritually enriching morning. Looking forward to another great Sunday with you all!

Just a heads-up: This Sunday marks the last chance to contribute to our quarterly mission focus. This time, we're supporting Open Door Outreach, an incredible organization that works with women in our Provincial Correctional Centre and the wider community. They tackle addiction and drug-related crimes, making a real difference by intervening during incarceration and supporting recovery. Their work helps to break the cycle of crime, impacting individuals and their families at the very root of the issue. So far, we've raised $2,660! Let's give generously to help continue this vital work. Join us in making a lasting impact! For more information on Open Door Ministries, click HERE!

When the Spirit resides within us, it changes us fundamentally, much like how marriage affects our decisions and outlook. Initially, we might be driven by selfish desires, focusing on personal needs. However, as the Spirit becomes an integral part of our lives, our actions and thoughts begin to align more with God's will rather than our own. This shift is profound, not just in theory but in how we live daily. It’s about allowing the Spirit to guide our decisions, helping us to choose paths of patience, kindness, and integrity.

As we move into July, let's ask ourselves how the Holy Spirit is influencing our daily lives. Are we open to letting go of old patterns to embrace the life God wants for us? This reflection can lead us to a deeper, more impactful walk with God, shaped by His Spirit every step of the way. For more insights, check out our latest blog post: God Has You.

Have you met Agnes Gonzales yet? She's a member of our prayer ministry team and a radiant host during our Sunday services. Agnes lights up any room with her warmth and leadership. But that’s not all—she’s also pouring her passion and cultural heritage into launching a Filipino church. Her goal? To create a welcoming environment that celebrates community and spiritual growth for our Filipino members. Agnes's dedication is truly inspiring, and we're excited to see how her efforts continue to enrich our community.

As we close out this edition of The Bridge, let's take a moment to reflect on the messages from Colossians 1:3. Paul’s words remind us of the deep impact that genuine faith and love can have. It’s exciting to see a community that’s so connected to God’s love and to each other.

This week, let’s consider how we’re living out these truths in our own lives. Are we acting in ways that bring joy and peace, not just to ourselves but to those around us? Remember, it’s about showing God’s love through our everyday actions.

Let’s aim to live like Jesus, filled with His presence and guided by His example. Together, let’s be a beacon of His light in a world that truly needs it, guided every step by the Good Shepherd.

Thanks for taking a moment to catch up with us in this edition of The Bridge Weekly. We love sharing this journey with you and can't wait to connect again next week!

P.S. A quick thought: We’re living with the incredible power of the Spirit, the same one that raised Christ from the dead! As you step into the week ahead, how does this truth change your outlook? What choices can you make today to align more closely with the Spirit’s life-giving presence in your everyday actions?
