Greater Than Self-Help Since Day One

Jesus > quick fixes.

Hey there SCC Family !

Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol 2. Issue 42!
Only 10 more of these until we wrap up the year… but who’s counting? Jesus is better at holding things together than any planner, productivity hack, or self-help podcast. On Sunday, Tracy reminded us that He’s not just a part of life—He is life. From creation to right now, everything exists through Him and for Him. And in a world full of quick fixes and scattered focus, this message calls us to stay rooted in the One who never fails.

Need a little reset for your week?
The blog is short, scroll-friendly, and full of good stuff to chew on. It captures the heart of Sunday’s message in a way that’s easy to take with you. A little midweek reminder that Jesus still holds it all together—no striving required.

Between the Shores took a break
Joel and Tracy are catching their breath after the Thanksgiving weekend, so no new episode this time. But the playlist is full of gems worth revisiting—great for a walk, a quiet night in, or when your soul needs something solid.

Missed Sunday’s Message?
We’ve got you. Our Sunday messages are available as a podcast—great for your next walk, commute, or dishwashing session. Just search Summerside Community Church on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. You can also watch the full message anytime on our sermon hub.

This week, Tracy is back with part two of our Jesus is Greater than Everything series—and she’s taking aim at the self-help trap. Colossians reminds us that growth doesn’t come from hustle or striving. It comes from being rooted in Jesus. He brings fullness. He brings freedom. Every time.

We’ve got a bit of a plot twist coming up! Due to a planned power outage in the industrial park this Sunday, October 19, our service will start one hour earlier at 9:00 AM. And since we like to keep the lights on when we meet new people, the Connect Fair will now take place on Sunday, October 26 instead. Mark your calendars—we can’t wait to help you find your group!

Thanks to the not-so-well-timed power outage, our Connect Fair is getting bumped to Sunday, October 26. It’s your chance to meet leaders, ask questions, and find a group that fits. Some have already launched, but there’s still time to jump in—or even start something new. Got an idea and a heart to gather people? Talk to Joel. You don’t need a five-step plan—just a willing yes.

Group Spotlight: Route 2
Looking for something a little different? The Route 2 group meets every other week in rotating homes along—you guessed it—Route 2 and the North Shore. It’s a mix of adults and young adults who gather to pray, encourage one another, and dig into what God’s saying through Sunday’s message. Interested? Reach out to [email protected] to learn more. First gathering is Wednesday, October 22.

We won’t be gathering for True North this Saturday—our pulled pork fundraiser is taking over the building (and probably your dinner plans too). We’ll be back at it next week with prayer, worship, and a room full of expectancy. Until then, keep leaning in wherever you are.

Every act of generosity helps move the mission forward—and we’re so thankful for it. From weekly ministry to long-term impact, it’s been amazing to see what’s possible when we all say yes together. Your giving doesn’t just support the church—it builds the Kingdom, one faithful step at a time.

Come Join the Team

Thursday nights are full of energy, questions, and moments that matter—and our teens need adults who are willing to show up for all of it. Elev8 Youth is looking for volunteers who can help create a space where students feel seen, safe, and supported. You don’t need all the answers. You just need to care. Whether you’re great with games or more of a quiet encourager, there’s a place for you on the team. Chat with Colby if you’re curious.

When Jesus is our source, rest stops feeling like a luxury—it becomes a lifeline. In Sunday’s message, we were reminded that real life isn’t something we achieve through effort or escape. It flows from abiding in Him. So if you feel scattered, start there. Stop. Breathe. Abide.

Shirley Bryce helps make Sunday mornings warmer—one cup at a time. She’s a kind and steady presence on our Connect Café team, always ready to pitch in and offer a smile. We’re so grateful for the way she serves with heart and helps make SCC feel like home.

Looking to get more involved? Joining a team is a great way to build community, discover your strengths, and help others experience Jesus along the way. From making coffee to running slides, greeting at the door to helping with kids—there’s a place for you. Let’s find it together.

Prayer Wall
Did you know there’s a prayer wall on our website? You can share a request or lift others up by reading and praying through what’s been posted. Just click the “Next Steps” circle on the bottom right at summersidecommunity.church—and be part of what God’s doing through prayer.

There’s always something taking shape at SCC—and we’d love for you to be part of it. From upcoming events to ways to serve and grow, our website is the best place to explore what’s happening. Take a look and find your next step.

As You Step Forward
Are you striving for change—or staying rooted in Him? It’s easy to chase results, push harder, and call it growth. But real life flows from the One who already finished the work. As you move through this week, stay grounded in Jesus. That’s where the fullness is found.

See You Sunday- We love doing life and faith with you. Let’s keep showing up, lifting Jesus high, and living it out together.

P.S. Every time you choose to abide instead of strive, you’re making space for Jesus to lead. That’s not a small thing—it’s the beginning of real, lasting change.
