Jesus Reigns. And He’s Not Done.

The Ascension wasn’t a goodbye—it was a launch.

Hey there SCC Family !

Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol 2. Issue 34!
Just because Jesus ascended doesn’t mean He stepped away. Sunday’s message reminded us that He’s not pacing heaven waiting for the sequel—He’s speaking, moving, and filling every corner of our lives with purpose. The Ascension didn’t end the story—it supercharged it.

Sometimes you need to hear it again—or for the first time. The blog captures Sunday’s message in a way that helps you live it through the week.

And if listening fits better in your rhythm, the Between the Shores podcast is up now too.

Listen on the Go! You can catch Sunday’s message in podcast form—available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Just search Summerside Community Church and listen anytime. You can also watch the full message anytime on our website’s sermon hub.

Natasha is in the office Monday to Thursday—but just a heads up, the office is closed Friday mornings for the summer. If you need anything before the weekend, feel free to reach out earlier in the week!

Tracy’s Back!
After a summer of rest, prayer, and reflection, Tracy is back in the office—and we’re so glad to have her. She’ll be easing back in over the next few weeks, so feel free to say hi, share a warm welcome, and give her space to transition gently.

This Sunday, we continue our We Believe series with a message on the Holy Spirit: “The One Who Makes Jesus Real.” The Spirit is often misunderstood or overlooked—but the Nicene Creed calls Him “the Lord, the giver of life.” We’ll explore how the Spirit makes Jesus real to us, empowers us to live by faith, and why His place in the Trinity matters more than we often realize.

And after the service, stick around—we’re firing up the grill for our SCC Family BBQ! Bring a dish to share, invite a friend, and enjoy an afternoon of food, fun, and good conversation.

Ages 12–18, this one’s for you. We’re teaming up with Fusion Youth for a weekend that’s way more than just campfires and late-night snacks (though there will be those too). We’ll be talking about what it means to be sent—just like Jesus promised His Spirit would empower us to go, live, and speak with purpose.

📍 New Glasgow, NS | 🗓 August 29–31

It’s the interns’ final full week, and they’re finishing strong—with sun-soaked hands and hearts full of stories. From pulling weeds to wrestling with big questions, Gracie and Nathan have been leaning in, learning lots, and laughing along the way.

Highs, Lows, and What We’re Learning

One highlight this week was spending time with Tracy while caring for the potted plants—and a good conversation with Margo made it even better. Working in the garden brought a quiet kind of joy too, even if the weeds had the upper hand.

There were some tough moments. Reading assignments felt long, and weeding with an injured finger didn’t help. But we’re discovering that growth isn’t about having it easy—it’s about being faithful with what’s in front of you.

God’s been teaching us, too. That forgiveness matters even when it’s hard. That the future is safest in His hands. That trust takes practice.

And yes—there were a few surprises. Like getting sprayed by the sprinkler mid-task. Or being gifted guitar gear, totally out of the blue. Through it all, God keeps showing up—sometimes in quiet, unexpected ways.

Nations Night 🌍

If you’ve been greeted with a warm smile at the door lately, chances are it was Donna Lee McCormack. She recently joined our welcome team, and we’re already so grateful for the friendly, thoughtful presence she brings each Sunday. Little things—like a kind hello—make a big difference, and Donna Lee helps set the tone from the moment people walk in.

Looking to get more involved? Joining a team is a great way to build community, discover your strengths, and help others experience Jesus along the way. From making coffee to running slides, greeting at the door to helping with kids—there’s a place for you. Let’s find it together.

Prayer Wall

There’s always something unfolding in the life of our church—and we don’t want you to miss it. Take a few minutes to visit the website for upcoming events, sign-ups, and ways to get involved. It’s the easiest way to stay in step with everything happening at SCC.

From Sunday to Today
The Ascension reminds us that Jesus didn’t go far—He went ahead. He’s still speaking, still interceding, and still filling ordinary places with His presence. As we head into the week, let’s keep our eyes on Him, tune our ears to His voice, and walk with the quiet confidence that comes from knowing He reigns—and we’re part of His Kingdom work.

See You Sunday- We love doing life and faith with you. Let’s keep showing up, lifting Jesus high, and living it out together.

P.S. When it feels like you’re carrying too much, remember this: He ascended so He could fill all things—including the space you’re standing in right now. You’re not alone in it.
