Jesus Still Speaks

The Bridge Weekly Vol 2 Issue 4

Hey SCC Family !

Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol. 2, Issue 4! This week, Joel dove into Matthew 11:12, where Jesus speaks of “violence” in the kingdom—not as physical aggression, but as a passionate, unrelenting pursuit. Picture desperate sheep pressing through a narrow gate to find freedom. John the Baptist paved the way with his call to repentance, and Jesus, the Good Shepherd, leads us into the wide-open spaces of God’s love. Joel challenges us to bring that same intensity to our spiritual lives, refusing to settle for indifference or distraction.

But here’s the balance: while we can’t force faith, we’re invited to respond with real spiritual hunger. Like sheep rushing out when the gate opens, we’re called to run toward Jesus—through prayer, study, and obedience. Joel also introduced seven ways God guides us: through Scripture, the Holy Spirit’s prompting, wise counsel, reasoning, circumstantial signs, communion, and solitude. Together, these tools help us hear His voice clearly and trust His guidance as we navigate life.

Tracy and Joel continued the conversation in their Listening & Responding episode, unpacking what it means to passionately pursue God’s kingdom while resting in His love. They shared stories about how God’s voice often cuts through the noise, revealing His love and direction in ways that are deeply personal. Don’t miss their insights and reflections.

This Sunday, Colby will be sharing a profound message on the power and significance of the blood of Jesus. In God’s kingdom, freedom and forgiveness come with a price—paid through Christ’s ultimate sacrifice. As A.W. Tozer puts it, “The blood of Jesus Christ is the great currency of Heaven, the only acceptable payment for sin, and the source of our redemption.” His blood not only cleanses us but reconciles us to the Father, granting us freedom and new life. Join us as we reflect on this incredible truth and explore how we can live in the light of His sacrifice.

When it comes to hearing God’s voice, how can we be confident it’s Him? The 5 C’s of God’s guidance offer a helpful framework to discern His direction in our lives:

  1. Command of Scripture – God’s voice always aligns with His Word, reflecting His unchanging truth.

  2. Compelling of the Spirit – The Holy Spirit moves within us, bringing peace, conviction, or a sense of assurance.

  3. Counsel of the Saints – Seeking wisdom from trusted, godly people can bring clarity and confirmation.

  4. Common Sense – God often uses practical reasoning and wisdom to guide us.

  5. Circumstantial Signs – Providential events or patterns can affirm His leading in unexpected ways.

These principles remind us that Jesus still speaks, inviting us to trust His voice as we navigate the big and small decisions of life.

Jesus still speaks into everyday moments, echoing beyond ancient stories. Scripture reminds us that His voice might arise in a gentle nudge, a quiet whisper, or through a friend’s thoughtful words. It can feel like a stirring at the back of our mind, calling us to pause and notice where we’re heading. By slowing down, we discover that He’s still close, ready to guide us.
