Letting Go, Leaning In
Let Jesus lead the moments that matter.

Hey there SCC Family !
Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol 2. Issue 47!
Somewhere along the way, “being in control” became a life skill we’re all expected to master. Sunday reminded us that Jesus invites us into something steadier. Colossians 3:18–4:1 paints a picture of everyday spaces—homes, families, work, friendships—where His leadership brings clarity and peace. As we lean into surrender, the pressure to hold everything together starts to ease, and the Spirit teaches us how to live with openness, trust, and a quieter heart.
Take a moment this week to read the blog—it offers a clear, steady look at how surrender shapes real life and helps us walk with Jesus in everyday spaces. It’s a short, helpful pause in the middle of your week. | The latest Between the Shores episode is ready for you, offering an easygoing conversation about Sunday’s theme and how surrender unfolds in ordinary moments. It’s simple to listen to on a drive or while you settle into your day. |

This Sunday, Joel will be speaking from Colossians 4:2–6, guiding us into a conversation about prayerful maturity and steady wisdom. Paul encourages the church to stay awake to what God is doing, to pray with intention, and to let our words carry grace into every interaction. These simple practices shape how we live as followers of Jesus—alert, hopeful, and ready to bring peace into the spaces we move through each day.
Pre-Service Prayer
Starting this Sunday, our prayer team will be available from 9:30 to 10 a.m. before the service. If you have a prayer need or would like someone to pray with you, meet the team in front of the Prayer Room in the Great Room. It is a simple way to quiet your heart and invite God’s presence before the morning begins.

Caring for orphans has been part of SCC’s heartbeat since the beginning. It is something God has woven into who we are as a church family. As we recognize Adoption Month, let us pray that we keep walking in that legacy, continuing to love and care for the least of these, the way Jesus calls us to.
Prayer Focus: Pray for children who are waiting. Ask God to surround every child—locally and globally—with protection, peace, and the support they need. Pray that doors would open for them to experience family, stability, and the sense of belonging that reflects the Father’s heart.
![]() | Applications are now open for SCC’s 2026 mission trip to YWAM Niagara. We would love to talk with you about joining the team. The deadline is the end of December. Pray about how you can be part of what God is doing in Niagara. |

We’re excited to be searching for a Youth Pastor who loves teens and has a passion for helping them follow Jesus. This part-time role (16 hours a week) brings together weekly gatherings, mentorship, worship, and the joy of building a vibrant community. If you come alive investing in students and creating moments where they feel known and encouraged, we’d love to hear from you.

Christmas Eve is almost here, and our church family will gather at 4 p.m. for From Everlasting to Manger. It’s a simple, beautiful moment to pause and remember that Jesus didn’t begin at Bethlehem; He stepped into our world from eternity to redeem and reign forever. We’d love for you to join us as we celebrate the One who has always been with us.

We are so grateful for every act of generosity that fuels the mission here at SCC. It has been encouraging to see what has been accomplished together this year. Below is a short video update from Darren, our Treasurer, sharing a few highlights and next steps.

Rest grows when we slow our pace long enough to notice God’s nearness. It’s the space where the pressure loosens and trust settles in again. Take a moment this week to breathe, quiet your thoughts, and remember that Jesus meets you in the stillness as much as in the busy places of life.

A huge thank-you to Deborah, Mary, Noelle, Caroline, Freddy, Donna Lee, Carol, Deb, Gideon, Julianna, Titus, Arthur, Debbie, and Gerald for bringing the building to life for Christmas. The tree, the lights, and all the thoughtful touches made the space feel warm and welcoming. We’re grateful for the care and creativity you shared with our church family.
Looking to get more involved? Joining a team is a great way to build community, discover your strengths, and help others experience Jesus along the way. From making coffee to running slides, greeting at the door to helping with kids—there’s a place for you. Let’s find it together.
There’s always something taking shape at SCC—and we’d love for you to be part of it. From upcoming events to ways to serve and grow, our website is the best place to explore what’s happening. Take a look and find your next step.
As You Step Forward
Take a moment this week to notice where Jesus is inviting you to trust Him. Surrender doesn’t happen in one big moment. It grows in the small places where we release the pressure to hold everything together. As you walk into the days ahead, let His peace steady your thoughts, guide your choices, and shape the way you move through your home, your work, and your relationships. Jesus is with you in every step, teaching you how to live free and open to His leading.
Thanks for being part of what God is building here. We love walking this out with you—and we’ll see you Sunday.

P.S. If you find yourself gripping tightly to something, whisper a simple prayer: “Jesus, lead me here.” He will.
