Love's Eternal Embrace

The Bridge #34

Hey there SCC Family !

Welcome to the 34th edition of The Bridge Weekly! How are you doing this fantastic Thursday? Did you know today’s so special it only happens once a week? 😉

This Sunday, Josh dove into Romans 8:31-34, highlighting the reassurance embedded in the phrase, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” This isn’t just a slogan for personal victory but a reminder of God’s unwavering support throughout our lives. Reflecting on God’s historical faithfulness, Josh connected this promise to the deep support God provided during the Exodus, emphasizing that this support is not about external victories but about God’s constant presence and love.

Josh discussed the challenge of the “orphan mentality”—the feeling of needing to prove our worth or achieve something significant alone. He encouraged us to find security in our identity as God’s beloved children, assuring us that nothing can separate us from His love. This reminder helps us to understand that our true strength comes not from our achievements but from the steadfast love of our Father.

Check out the full sermon here to explore further into living with the assurance of God’s support.  Can you believe we’re more than halfway through August already? It feels like just yesterday we were planning our summer vacations. Speaking of which, we’re glad to have Tracy back from her break, though we’ll have to wait a bit longer for her insights—her next Listening and Responding episode is on August 26.

This Sunday, Tracy returns to share insights on Romans 8:35-39, exploring the unbreakable bond of God’s love for us. After the service, make sure to visit the Connect Cafe. It’s the perfect place to meet someone new and strike up a conversation—ideal for building friendships and discussing the day’s message. Join us and help make everyone feel welcome!

Our NYC Mission team is wrapping up their impactful week at the New York School of Urban Ministry and will be returning this Monday! Let’s keep them in our prayers as they conclude their journey, seeking God’s protection and wisdom. This mission has been a significant opportunity for them to serve and experience God’s love in action. We look forward to their return, eager to hear about their experiences and the blessings they’ve both given and received in New York City.

As we approach the weekend, consider this: regardless of how we’ve experienced fatherhood, God invites us to know Him as a Father who is deeply committed to us. He’s not just a distant figure; He’s actively for us in every challenge and joy. If the idea of God as a Father feels new or challenging to you, you’re not alone. Many of us wrestle with accepting that unconditional support. Yet, Paul reminds us that no matter what we face, nothing can sever our connection with Him. Let this weekend be a time for you to lean into that assurance. Experience His presence not as a distant concept but as a tangible reality that shapes every part of your life. With God beside us, guiding and loving, we can navigate anything that comes our way.

Thanks for checking out this week’s edition of The Bridge Weekly. It’s always great to share this time with you, and we’re excited to catch up again next week. Until then, take care!

P.S. Don’t forget to read Romans 8:35-39 before Sunday’s service. These compelling verses assure us that nothing in this world can separate us from God’s love. As we explore this passage, we’ll deepen our understanding of God’s eternal commitment to us. Let’s prepare to be moved and reassured by the promise that no force can diminish His love for us.
