Peace That Meets You in Real Life

Let this spark something good.

Hey there SCC Family !

Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol 2. Issue 50!
Apparently, December has decided to sprint, so we are holding on with a warm drink and a steady heart. Sunday pointed us back to the kind of peace Jesus brings, the kind that settles you in real life and keeps you awake to His presence. It is the quiet gift of knowing He meets us right where life feels full, guiding us into rhythms that help us breathe again.

The blog gives you a simple doorway into the heart of Sunday, offering a few thoughts that help you slow down and take in what Jesus might be stirring. It is an easy read that creates space for clarity, curiosity, and a little grounding for the rest of your week.

Between the Shores brings the same themes into a relaxed conversation you can slip into anytime. It is a calm companion for a walk, a drive, or a quiet moment at home, and it offers a thoughtful way to stay connected to what God has been speaking.

Missed Sunday’s Message?
We’ve got you. Our Sunday messages are available as a podcast—great for your next walk, commute, or dishwashing session. Just search Summerside Community Church on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. You can also watch the full message anytime on our sermon hub.

Pre-Service Prayer
A simple moment of prayer can shift the whole morning. From 9:30 to 10:00, our prayer team will be in the Great Room for anyone who would like someone to stand with them in prayer. It is a quiet and welcoming space to begin the day with God’s nearness.

We step into the third week of Advent this Sunday, and Tracy will be leading us into the theme of Joy. It is the kind of joy that grows quietly, even when life feels full, because Jesus meets us with a steadying presence. As we gather, we will look toward the joy He plants in us and the way it carries us into the week with hope.

After the Service This Sunday. Youth Group Leadership Meeting.
Elev8 Youth is in a meaningful season, and we want our teens to keep feeling supported by people who genuinely care about them. As we continue the search for the right person to step into the Youth Pastor role, we are inviting staff, parents, and volunteers to come alongside our youth leaders and help strengthen the support around them.

We will meet from 12:30 to 2 p.m., right after the service. It will be a relaxed time to share ideas, talk through current needs, and imagine what could be possible in the months ahead.

Parents of youth, Elev8 leaders, and anyone who has a heart for the next generation are welcome to be part of the conversation.

Refreshments will be ready.

Every year, our church family steps into the Christmas season with open hands and generous hearts. The Christmas Blessing fund allows us to come alongside local families who could use some extra support, offering help in a way that feels gentle and dignifying. Our goal this year is $3,000, and we have already received $1,305. This Sunday is the last Sunday to Give.

If you feel led to give, you can mark “Christmas Blessing” on your envelope or include it in the memo line of your e-transfer. All gifts must be received by December fourteenth. Thank you for helping bring hope a little closer to home this Christmas.

Jesus did not begin at Bethlehem. He stepped into our world from eternity to redeem and reign forever. We invite you to join us on Christmas Eve as we celebrate the One who has always been with us. Please note that this service will be an in-person gathering only and will not be streamed.

As we come toward the end of the year, we want to say thank you for the steady generosity that has carried our ministry forward. Every gift has helped strengthen the work happening here at SCC and through our mission partners. If you are planning year-end giving, contributions must be received by December 31st to be included on this year’s tax receipt. Thank you for giving with such faith and care. It makes a real difference.

SCC Missions Trip - Aug 2-8
Applications are open for our 2026 missions team, and we would love to explore this with anyone sensing a nudge to go. You can also apply online anytime, and the deadline to submit applications is the end of December.

Mission Opportunity! Praying Pelican Missions is looking for local PEI folks to join their seasonal team. If you love Jesus, love people, and have a few weeks to give, this might be your adventure. Learn more at ppm.org/employment.

Nativity: Night of Music returns to the Harbourfront Theatre on December 22 at 6:30 p.m. This community production brings the Christmas story to life through music, movement, and a cast of children. Familiar carols such as “Silent Night,” “Away in a Manger,” and “Angels We Have Heard on High” are woven into a creative retelling of Jesus’ birth. There will also be a special performance at St. Paul’s Parish on December 21 at 4:00 p.m., and no tickets are required for that performance.

We are grateful to the Summerside Christian Council, the Harbourfront Theatre, and St. Dunstan’s University for partnering with us to share this story with our wider community.

For details or to reserve seats, visit harbourfronttheatre.com or call the box office at 902-888-2500.

Hearing God Course
Hearing the voice of God is part of following Jesus, and this five-week course creates space to grow in confidence and clarity. Each week offers simple teaching, practical exercises, and time to listen together as we explore how God speaks through Scripture, prayer, community, and the everyday moments of life. A different teacher will guide each session, drawing from resources such as Hearing God, Whisper, Discerning the Voice of God, 4 Keys to Hearing God’s Voice, and Frequency. If you are longing to recognize God’s voice with greater ease, this course is a gentle next step.

Money Matters Workshop
If you have been hoping to get a better handle on your finances, this simple workshop might be just the place to start. We will meet on Wednesday, January 14, at 7 p.m. for a relaxed evening of short, conversational presentations on budgeting, debt, savings, and tithing, followed by a Q and A. The speakers include Temba Ngwenya, Scott Nash, Ron Goddard, and Don DesRoches, with Darren hosting the night. The atmosphere will be low-key and welcoming, and there will be refreshments to keep the conversation moving.

Joy grows best in unhurried places. When we make room to rest, even briefly, something inside us begins to lift again. Let this week include a small pause that helps you notice the quiet joy Jesus is planting in you, a joy that meets you right where life is happening.

Noma Ngwenya has a way of bringing quiet strength wherever she serves. She helps care for our church through the financial team, teller team, and prayer ministry, offering steady support and a warm, thoughtful presence. Her kindness and faithfulness ripple out farther than she realizes, and we are grateful for the many ways she helps our community flourish.

Looking to get more involved? Joining a team is a great way to build community, discover your strengths, and help others experience Jesus along the way. From making coffee to running slides, greeting at the door to helping with kids—there’s a place for you. Let’s find it together.

There’s always something taking shape at SCC—and we’d love for you to be part of it. From upcoming events to ways to serve and grow, our website is the best place to explore what’s happening. Take a look and find your next step.

As You Head Into the Week
Let the peace of Jesus settle into your rhythm in a real and steady way. A simple pause can open your heart to what He is already doing, and even the smallest moment of quiet can help you notice His joy taking root. Carry that with you into the days ahead. Let His presence shape your pace, guide your thoughts, and remind you that you are never walking alone.

Thanks for being part of what God is building here. We love walking this out with you—and we’ll see you Sunday.

P.S. If your days feel full, take one slow breath and remember: His peace meets you right where you are.
