A Love that Grows

Hey there SCC Family !
Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol 2. Issue 15!
If soil could talk, it might say, “Stick with the Gardener.” Tracy’s message this past Sunday invited us into the story of Philippians—a letter penned from prison, bursting with gratitude and resilience. Love grows best, not in ideal conditions, but when rooted deeply in Christ. From Lydia’s hospitality to a jailer’s turnaround, this letter reminds us that when God shows up, ordinary becomes holy ground.
Missed Sunday’s message? The blog gives you a quick glimpse into the heart of it—don’t let the length fool you, it’s packed with truth for your week. Think of it as a mid-scroll moment to realign and reconnect. And if you’d rather listen on the go, the podcast is up too—perfect for your next walk, drive, or coffee break.
Did you know that our Sunday messages are published as a podcast as well as a YouTube video? If you prefer to listen rather than watch, you can find them on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. Just search for Summerside Community Church. | ![]() |

Week 2 of A Jesus-Shaped Life continues this Sunday with Joel bringing the message, “Get A Life.”
Philippians 1:12–30 sets the stage, reminding us that joy isn’t tied to ease—and the gospel doesn’t shrink back when things get hard. Paul wrote from chains, yet what shines through is freedom. We’ll explore what it means to live as citizens of heaven, especially in a world where comfort is king and suffering feels out of place.
🗝 Key verse: “For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better.” (v. 21)
🎯 Theme: The gospel is unstoppable—even in chains.
🧭 Focus: Our hardship can become an unchained testimony to Jesus.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for Heather’s ordination this past Sunday. What a beautiful night of worship and affirmation as we officially commissioned her in her pastoral leadership. We’re excited to see all that God continues to do through her!

Thank you!

From April 7 to 28, we’ll be gathering each evening from 6:30–7:30 PM at SCC for one hour of focused prayer. (Sundays & Tuesdays will be on Zoom.) With elections approaching, we’re setting aside time to pray for Canada—asking God to move in our nation with wisdom, healing, and hope. Let’s seek His will over our land and believe together for a season shaped by peace, clarity, and His presence.

Are You Ready to Respond? When disaster strikes, Samaritan’s Purse Canada steps in— bringing practical help and the hope of Jesus to those in crisis. On Wednesday, April 30 from 6–8 PM, join us at SCC for Ready to Respond, a behind-the-scenes look at how volunteers and staff serve on the front lines of wildfires, floods, and other disasters. Hear powerful stories from the field, learn what it means to be part of this vital work, and find out how you can get involved. Doors open at 5:30 PM and light refreshments will be served. Admission is free. | ![]() |

Tomorrow marks our final Lenten Lunch of the season, and it’s happening right here at SCC. Join us from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM for a meaningful time of worship, music, and a short Lent reflection—followed by warm soup and fresh biscuits. A free-will offering will go toward the Summerside Christian Council Student Bursary. Let’s finish the journey to Easter together.

Easter at SCC!
Easter reminds us that Jesus was anointed to bring hope, healing, and new life. Join us as we celebrate His resurrection and the promise that His Spirit is still pouring out today. Good Friday: April 18 at 11 AM Come expectant, come hungry, and let’s worship the risen King together! For service times and more details, visit our website HERE! | ![]() |

Looking to Serve? We’re currently looking for a few friendly faces and helping hands to join our volunteer teams. If you’d like to help with communion setup or serve as an inner door greeter, we’d love to have you on board. It’s a simple but meaningful way to support what God is doing here each Sunday—and a great way to get connected too.
📋 Sign-up sheets will be available this Sunday at the Hub!

Jodie Long brings the groove and the heart. Whether playing bass or guitar with our New Wine Worship team—or co-leading a second team—he shows up with humility, care, and a deep love for this church. We’re grateful for the way he serves so faithfully.
Stay Connected
When you show up, serve, or simply say hello, it makes a difference. Our website is full of ways to find your place in this community.
The church in Philippi started with a riverside prayer meeting. Just a few people, some open hearts, and God’s Spirit at work. Eleven years later, Paul’s letter reminded them—and now us—that even small beginnings carry eternal significance.
So let’s be encouraged: your everyday faithfulness matters. The love you extend, the prayers you pray, the steps you take in obedience—all of it is part of the story God is writing. Stay rooted. Stay responsive. And let His love keep growing in you.
Thanks for being part of the journey—it’s a gift to walk this out together. We’re looking forward to seeing you again on Sunday!

P.S. Real love isn’t just felt—it’s formed. It grows when we stay rooted in Jesus, listen to the Spirit, and let His grace guide our steps. Even in pressure, His love has a way of breaking through.
