Saying Yes, Together

Faith is formed over time, and we don’t walk it alone

Hey there SCC Family !

Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol 3. Issue 3!
Following Jesus rarely unfolds all at once. Sunday reminded us that faith is formed slowly—through Scripture, prayer, and learning to listen together.

As we marked this next step in Colby’s journey, the focus stayed close to formation. Trust shaped over years. Discernment practiced in community. Obedience that grows as we walk attentively with Jesus and alongside one another. This sending wasn’t just about one person stepping forward; it’s a shared story we’re all part of.

A quick read with a long echo.
This week’s blog reflects on following Jesus as something shaped over time through listening, trust, and shared faith. It is a simple invitation to slow down, notice what God has been forming beneath the surface, and carry that awareness into the week ahead.

A thoughtful listen with a steady pace. This week’s Between the Shores episode reflects on calling, obedience, and how following Jesus unfolds through listening, trust, and shared faith. It is an easy companion for a walk, a drive, or a quiet moment during the week.

Pre-Service Prayer
Our prayer team will be available from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. before the service. If you have a prayer need or would like someone to pray with you, you are welcome to meet the team near the Prayer Room in the Great Room. It is a simple way to quiet your heart and invite God’s presence before the morning begins.

This Sunday, Joel will be teaching on Hearing God and the question behind it: what voices are you listening to? We will reflect on how Jesus speaks, how His voice becomes familiar over time, and how learning to listen shapes the way we follow Him in everyday life. It is an invitation to slow down, tune our attention, and trust His leading.

The Bible Recap has already begun, and it’s still a great time to jump in. If you’re looking for a steady, life-giving rhythm in the Word, this offers a simple and approachable way to begin and stay engaged. It’s designed to meet you right where you are and help Scripture become part of your everyday life.

This week, churches across our city are joining together in prayer as part of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Each day, a short devotion will be shared on the Summerside and Area Christian Council Facebook page, offering a simple way to pause and pray alongside others in our community. Several local churches will also be opening their doors throughout the week for prayer services, creating space to seek God together across traditions. The week will conclude with a combined service on Saturday, January 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Summerside Community Church, followed by a light lunch with donations supporting Loaves and Fishes.

Hearing God is a five week course focused on learning to recognize God’s voice in everyday life. Through Scripture, prayer, and shared listening, we will practice slowing down and growing in confidence together. The course begins this Sunday, and you can sign up at the Hub or use the button below.

Slowing our pace often creates space to hear God more clearly. Rest invites us to quiet the noise of the week and notice what is already present. As you move into the days ahead, consider where you can pause, breathe, and listen with an open heart.

Julianna Stimson wears a few hats around SCC, and we are thankful for every one of them. She helps lead the Thrive Young Adult Group, serves on our Missions Leadership Team, and is the creative force behind the artwork on our Café wall. Her care, creativity, and quiet faith add so much to the life and feel of our church.

Looking to get more involved? Joining a team is a great way to build community, discover your strengths, and help others experience Jesus along the way. From making coffee to running slides, greeting at the door to helping with kids—there’s a place for you. Let’s find it together.
