Seeing Humanity Clearly Again

Fix your eyes on Jesus

Hey there SCC Family !

Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol 3. Issue 12!
A week like March Break can shift the usual rhythm. Hebrews meets us right there with a clear focus. We see Jesus. In Him we begin to understand what it means to be fully human, shaped by faith, hope, and love.

Hebrews 2 speaks honestly about the world we live in, where beauty and suffering sit side by side. Into that reality, Jesus steps close. He shares in our weakness, carries our suffering, and opens the way to life. As we look to Him, we begin to see a better way to live, formed together as a people shaped by His presence.

This week’s blog invites you to look at what it means to see Jesus and understand our lives through Him. There is no new Between the Shores episode this week, but past conversations are available if you would like to listen.

This Sunday Joel continues in Hebrews, exploring Hebrews 3 and the invitation to trust God’s faithfulness. As uncertainty rises, the pull to return to old patterns can grow strong. Together we will consider what it means to keep our hearts soft and step into the rest God still offers.

This Sunday will also be Isaac Gillis’ last with us before he heads to YWAM in Nelson, New Zealand for three months. We will take time in the service to pray for him, and we invite you to keep him in your prayers as he begins this journey.

We are looking for one more volunteer to join the nursery team, serving one week on and two weeks off. If you would enjoy spending time with our youngest ones on Sunday mornings, please connect with Freddy or email him at [email protected].

Good Friday and Easter are approaching. Join us on April 3 at 11:00 a.m. as we remember the cross, and on April 5 at 10:00 a.m. as we celebrate the resurrection together.

Thank you, Jesus, for the cross.
Thank you for the empty tomb.
Our hope lives because You live.

Deep Cleaning Days!
Join us for Deep Cleaning Days on Thursday, March 26 from 11:00–2:00 or Saturday, March 28 from 9:00–12:00. If those times do not work, check the whiteboard in the lobby and choose a task you can complete during office hours.

Parents Night Out is happening Monday, March 23 from 5:00–8:00 p.m. at SCC. Kids will enjoy games, activities, and pizza, and our visiting Praying Pelican Missions team will help host the evening.

March 26 at 7:00 p.m. at SCC

Testify creates space for youth to gather around Jesus in worship and prayer. The Praying Pelican Missions team will lead the night and help guide students as they respond to Him.

Lent has long been a season of preparation leading toward baptism. Baptism Sunday is coming up on March 29, and the service will go a little longer than usual, so you are welcome to bring a snack to tide you over until lunch. If you sense a readiness to take this step with Jesus, we would love to walk with you.

The Niagara Mission Team will host a family movie night fundraiser this Saturday night, March 21. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the movie begins at 7:00 p.m., with a $20 package that includes pizza, popcorn, a drink, and the movie.

Our Niagara Mission Team has been selected, and we are excited to introduce them to you. Your encouragement and support mean a great deal as they prepare for the journey ahead.

The Watoto Children’s Choir will join us on April 30 with songs from Better Days—There Is Hope. Host homes are needed for the team that evening, and a free will offering will be received. If interested please email [email protected]

We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus,
so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.
- 2 Corinthians 4:10

As we carry the life of Jesus, His life becomes visible in us. Watch this week for where His life is being revealed, even in the middle of difficulty.

Rose Pierce is often one of the first faces you see on a Sunday morning, welcoming people at the door with a steady smile. She helps create a space where people feel at ease as they arrive, and we are grateful for the care she brings each week.

If you’re sensing a desire to step in a little more, serving on a team is a meaningful place to begin. It’s where friendships grow, gifts are discovered, and everyday moments become part of how others encounter Jesus. Preparing coffee, running slides, welcoming at the door, or caring for children all play a quiet role in shaping our life together. We would be glad to help you find a place that fits.

In Jesus we see what it means to live as God intended. He shares in our life, walks with us through it, and forms His life within us. As you move through the week, stay near to Him and let His presence guide you.

Thanks for being part of this church family. It is a gift to walk with Jesus together. See you Sunday.

P.S. Keep looking to Jesus this week. The One who shares our humanity is forming His life in you.
