Hey SCC Family !
Welcome to the 48th edition of The Bridge Weekly. We’re stacking up Thursdays like bricks, building something special together!
The Gulu Mission Team’s trip to Uganda revealed God’s presence in powerful ways. From worshiping with women in prison under mango trees to sharing meals with children in an IDP camp, every moment was a reminder of God’s faithfulness. The team served alongside World Embrace, witnessing their life-changing efforts to disciple communities, support families, and build sustainable ministries. From hospitals to schools, they’re bringing hope to the next generation. The team saw firsthand how Ugandans, even amidst challenges, embrace their faith with joy and resilience. It was a journey of laughter, worship, and transformation as Jesus shone through every encounter. They invite you to see His work in fresh ways, just as they did, and consider how He might be calling you to step out in faith.
After her time in Gulu, Tracy returned with fresh insights and shared her experiences in her latest Listening & Responding episode.
In this week’s episode, Tracy reflects on the importance of following the ways of Jesus rather than the ways of our culture. She shares how the trip deepened her understanding of serving and loving others, emphasizing that we’re called to love Jesus with all our heart, mind, and soul and to love our neighbours as ourselves.
One of her most impactful moments was speaking to women in the Gulu prison. Before she spoke, she was told, “You are most welcome here. Be free.” Those words resonated deeply, reminding her—and us—that true freedom comes from trusting God and allowing Him to work through us. Tracy opens up about the challenges of maintaining that closeness with God amid life’s demands and encourages us not to slip back into fear or old patterns. Instead, she urges us to draw near to God, embrace the freedom He offers, and let His love shine through who we are created to be.
She also touches on scriptures like Romans 8:15 and Galatians 5:1, reminding us that we are not slaves to fear but are adopted into God’s family. Her heartfelt reflections are both inspiring and thought-provoking. You won’t want to miss this episode!

This Sunday, we’re excited to welcome Josh and Erin Hoffert as they share what God has been doing in their lives during their time here in PEI and at SCC. They’ll talk about the new paths they sense the Lord is leading them to pursue. God is always faithful and has a good plan for our lives—Josh and Erin have experienced this firsthand.
We look forward to hearing their story and blessing them as they step into what’s ahead. You can read their farewell letter here.
After the service, please stay for a light soup lunch and some time together as a church family. There will be a table set up in the lobby with index cards for you to share an encouraging word with them. We’ll also collect donations to help support Josh and Erin’s move to British Columbia as they follow God’s leading into this exciting new chapter.

It’s time to start talking about Christmas Blessing. This year, in partnership with Loaves and Fishes, we will support families in need over Christmas with gifts and food. Please consider what you will give beyond your regular giving to SCC for this special blessing. Christmas Blessing will be an option in Nucleus Giving, and we ask that you note this when using eTransfer as well.
Would you like to make a difference for a child in PEI this Christmas? Open Door Outreach, in partnership with Prison Fellowship Canada, runs the Angel Tree Christmas program for children of incarcerated parents. Here’s how it works:
Inmates register their children for Christmas gifts.
You or your group signs up to purchase and deliver gifts.
Indicate how far you’re willing to travel and how many children you’d like to support at $40 per child.
Prison Fellowship sends you the details.

Stepping into a world vastly different from our own can reshape how we see everything. Imagine arriving in a place where everyday life hums with unique rhythms, where hot showers and flush toilets are luxuries rather than norms, and where the warmth of a greeting is expressed with, “You are most welcome here; just be free.” Amidst these differences, profound connections emerge, revealing the true essence of serving Jesus and following His example. In such communities, simple acts like sharing a meal or offering a prayer transcend cultural barriers, reminding us of our shared humanity in Christ.
It’s in the laughter of children eager to connect, the resilient joy of women working under the relentless sun, and the spirited worship under mango trees that we discover Jesus’ love lived out in the most unexpected places. These experiences challenge our notions of happiness and fulfillment, inviting us to see the world through a new lens shaped by His teachings. Embracing the unfamiliar not only touches the lives of others but also transforms our own hearts in ways we never anticipated. Perhaps in stepping out of our comfort zones, we open ourselves to the boundless ways Jesus’ love and faith can unite us all.
If you’d like to explore these reflections further, feel free to read our latest blog post here.

As we finish off this week, let’s remember that we’re not called to follow the ways of the culture but the ways of Jesus. It’s His life in us that brings true life to our bodies, minds, and souls. It’s so important for us to focus on how we’re practicing the ways of Jesus—today, this week, this month, and beyond. Let’s ask ourselves: How am I following Him in my daily life? Together, let’s embrace His teachings, let His love guide us, and live out His example in everything we do. By doing so, we open ourselves to the fullness of life He offers and become a light to those around us.
