Are You Set Apart?

The Bridge #38

Hey SCC Family !

Welcome to The Bridge Weekly #38! Can you believe we’re already this far into the year? Time flies when you’re bridging the gap between Sundays!

In this week’s message, Josh reflected on Romans 11:4, focusing on how God sets His people apart. He used the story of the Titanic as a warning against pride, rushing ahead, and ignoring signs that could lead to disaster. Just like God tenderly called Israel back in Hosea 2, He is calling us to trust Him, slow down, and listen. Josh reminded us that Communion is more than remembrance—it’s a declaration to walk humbly and at God’s pace, resisting the rush of the world.

You can watch the full sermon HERE.

For those following along with Tracy’s Listening and Responding series, she explored the theme of how we follow Jesus’ way rather than the culture around us. In her latest episode, Tracy unpacks how abiding in Christ and slowing down to seek Him brings life, health, and wholeness. She invites us to reflect on where we need to turn to God and trust His timing.

This Sunday, Tracy will take us on a journey through the series we’ve explored together throughout the year—Psalm 23, the Holy Spirit, Romans 8, and more. It’s a chance to reflect on how far we’ve come and what God has been teaching us along the way. After the service, our Connect Group leaders will be out in the lobby, ready to answer any questions and help you find the right group for this season.

And of course, don’t forget to stop by Connect Café for a coffee and a chat. It’s the perfect time to meet someone new!

Help us make a difference! This September, 10% of our General Fund will support the Gulu Mission Team as they prepare for their November journey to Uganda. Your generosity helps equip them to share God’s love and serve the community in Gulu. Thank you for being part of this mission! As of September 8th, our total so far is $1306!!

The Salvation Army Food Bank plays a vital role in supporting those in need in our community. By giving, whether it’s food items or financial contributions, you help ensure that families facing difficult times have access to essentials. We have a table in the lobby where you can drop off non-perishable food donations. Your generosity goes a long way in ensuring no one goes without a meal. Let’s continue to show love and care by supporting this important cause.

It’s almost that time of year again! As we prepare for our Operation Christmas Child campaign starting in October, take a moment to think about what you’d like to include in your shoeboxes. Whether it’s school supplies, toys, or hygiene items, each gift shares Jesus’ love and brings hope to children in need around the world. Let’s come together and make a meaningful impact as we reflect His love through these gifts.

Connect Groups are starting! As fall approaches and you map out your schedule, take a moment to think about how your daily routines nurture your spiritual growth. Joining or leading a Connect Group could be a fantastic way to enrich this season. These groups offer a welcoming space to forge new friendships, grow in faith together, and support each other through prayer. For more details or to find the right group for you, CLICK HERE. Don’t forget to see our connect group leaders out in the lobby after church. We’re here to help you connect and grow!

The Bible Recap is kicking off the New Testament on September 30th! If you didn’t get a chance to start with us back in January, this is the perfect time to jump in. How is God inviting you to respond this week? Where might He be prompting you to let go of pride and seek Him more deeply? What parts of your life need a moment of stillness to hear His direction clearly?

As you consider these questions, consider how you’ll act on them. Who will you invite to walk alongside you? This is the heart of Connect Groups—coming together to ask, reflect, and share life. We see this in how Jesus modelled community with His disciples. We all need each other on this journey, so don’t walk it alone. Join a group and take that next step in following Jesus.

Thanks for checking out this week’s edition of The Bridge Weekly. It’s always great to share this time with you, and we’re excited to catch up again next week. Until then, take care!
