Stop. Breathe. You’re Not in Charge.

Rest isn’t a reward—it’s a rhythm you were made for.

Hey there SCC Family !

Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol 2. Issue 20! Turns out, “doing nothing” might be one of the most countercultural things we can do. Sunday’s message was a fresh invitation to rest—not as something to earn, but as a rhythm we were created for. Tracy shared about her upcoming sabbatical, and together with Joel and Andrew, reminded us that Sabbath is more than just a day off. It’s a holy resistance to hustle, a weekly declaration that God is in charge—and we’re not.

Missed Sunday? The message is available on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify—just search Summerside Community Church The message is still worth the listen, especially if you’re reflecting on what rest looks like in your own life.

Want to revisit Sunday’s message? The blog gives you a quick glimpse into the heart of it—don’t let the length fool you, it’s packed with truth for your week. Think of it as a mid-scroll moment to realign and reconnect. Read Here👉👉👉👉👉👉👉👉👉

And if you’d rather listen on the go, the Between the Shores podcast is up too—perfect for your next walk, drive, or coffee break.

Just a quick note—Natasha is off for the next two weeks recovering from surgery (prayers and chocolate welcome). In the meantime, our trusty team of office volunteers will be checking emails and answering phones to keep things running smoothly.

Also, heads-up: starting this week, the office will be closed on Friday mornings for the summer. We promise it’s not because we’re at the beach… probably.

Colby is back with Message #6 in our Jesus-Shaped Life series: “When Your Focus Gets Hijacked.” We’re zooming in on Philippians 3:18–19, where Paul warns about those whose minds are set on earthly things. It’s a sobering reminder that not all paths lead to Jesus—and that spiritual drift often starts with a shift in focus.

Expect a message that reminds us to run the race with purpose, live with eternity in view, and fix our eyes on Jesus—the true prize.

Starting this Saturday, May 17 at 6:30 PM at Centre 150, we’re setting aside space to pray, listen, and seek God together. There’s no agenda—just time to be still, lift up our voices, and see what the Spirit might do.

This prayer gathering flows from the heart of our recent 22-day initiative, where many of you shared how meaningful it was to praise, thank, repent, and intercede for Canada. That sense of purpose hasn’t faded. Scripture reminds us that as God’s people, we’re called to pray for our nation and its leaders (1 Timothy 2:1–2; 2 Chronicles 7:14)—that we may live in peace, godliness, and dignity.

We’ll continue meeting weekly, with hearts fixed on Jesus—our only true hope. You’re invited to join us in praying for wisdom, mercy, realignment, and healing across our land.

For further encouragement, check out this post-election video from Patricia King as she shares what it means to move from ashes to gold and live with spiritual authority in uncertain times.

Tracy’s Sabbatical Has Begun

As of May 12, Tracy has officially begun her three-month sabbatical—a rhythm we honour every seven years as a gift of rest and renewal. This isn’t time “off”—it’s time set apart for prayer, study, and spiritual refreshment.

It’s also a chance for us, as a church, to lean in together. Sabbaticals create space for shared leadership, fresh voices, and deeper trust in Jesus as the true head of His Church. Let’s be praying for Tracy—and for one another—as we embrace this season of rest and renewal.

Looking to explore Sabbath for yourself? You can download the Rediscovering Sabbath handout right here. Tracy also recommended two helpful reads: The Sacred Slow by Alicia Britt Chole and The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer. Both authors offer great resources to help you figure out what rest looks like in everyday life—just do a quick search online to get started.
