Thank you for being you!

Your life is a gift to this community.

Hello SCC Family,

Families have a way of celebrating both the big moments and the small ones. As a church family, we want to share in that kind of life together. Birthdays and anniversaries give us a simple and meaningful way to do that.

Henri Nouwen writes,

“Birthdays need to be celebrated. I think it is more important to celebrate a birthday than a successful exam, a promotion, or a victory. Because to celebrate a birthday means to say to someone: ‘Thank you for being you.’ Celebrating a birthday is exalting life and being glad for it. On a birthday, we do not say: ‘Thanks for what you did, or said, or accomplished.’ No, we say: ‘Thank you for being born and being among us.’”

There is something beautiful about pausing to recognize a life in that way. Each birthday becomes a moment to notice the present. A moment to say we are grateful you are here. A moment to remember that life is a gift from God, and that walking together matters.

We would love to celebrate with you and your family throughout the year. If you’re willing, simply reply to this email and let us know the birthdays and anniversaries in your family so we can add them to our calendar.

We’re grateful for you and the place you hold in this community.
