The Father Who Runs Toward Us

This one’s for every rebel, rule-follower, and restless heart—He’s not standing back. He’s running in.

Hey there SCC Family !

Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol 2. Issue 27!
We’re officially closer to Christmas than New Year’s—do with that what you will. 😬😧Sunday’s message left us asking big questions about God. Is He distant and disappointed? Or is He the kind of Father who runs toward us while we’re still a mess? In “The Prodigal Love of the Father,” Colby unpacked a grace that’s neither earned nor delayed—it’s disruptive, relentless, and always running ahead of shame.

Missed Sunday? You can catch Sunday’s message in podcast form—available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Just search Summerside Community Church and listen anytime. You can also catch the full message anytime on our website’s sermon hub.

Want to revisit Sunday’s message? The blog’s got you covered. It’s short, clear, and worth the read—perfect for a few spare minutes in your day. And while there’s no new Between the Shores episode this week, you can catch up on past conversations over on our YouTube channel.

Just a reminder—Natasha is in the office Monday through Thursday. Our team is around and happy to help, but the office will remain closed on Fridays during the summer.

This Sunday, Scott Nash is taking us into week three of our We Believe series—and we’re zooming in on a big idea: God as Creator and Father. From Genesis to Colossians, we’ll explore what it means to say we believe in the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. It’s more than a statement—it’s a declaration of trust in a God who is powerful, present, and personal.

Baptism Sunday is coming up on August 3, and we’d love to walk with you if this step is on your heart. Baptism is a beautiful act of obedience and trust—and you don’t have to figure it out alone. A huge thank you to everyone who pledged and gave to support our SCC Summer Internship program! We’re thrilled to introduce Gracie and Nathan as this year’s interns—and can’t wait for all that’s ahead as they step into ministry and mentorship together.

Quarterly Missions Giving Update –
This June, 10% of all General Fund giving was directed to support Isaac Gillis and Jazmyn Gallant as they prepare to join YWAM —and help launch a new base that will expand the ministry’s reach globally. With help from our community, we raised approximately $3,714.77.

We’re so thankful to stand with them as they take this next step in faith.

We weren’t built for constant noise. When we make time to rest, we’re not giving up—we’re giving in to a better rhythm. Breathe. Pause. Let God meet you where you are.

Last week, Mitch Gaudet stepped in to help us solve a mystery leak in the kids’ wing—an unsolvable puzzle until he rolled up his sleeves and got to work. We’re so thankful for his steady support and sharp thinking!.

There’s a place for you here. Serving on a team isn’t just about filling a spot—it’s about finding your fit, building relationships, and helping others encounter Jesus along the way. Love people, coffee, kids, or tech? There’s a team that would love to have you.

DON’T MISS WHAT’S NEXT- From weekly rhythms to one-time events, there’s a lot happening in our church family—and we’d love for you to be part of it. Head to our website for the latest updates, opportunities to serve, and ways to grow in community.

There’s a difference between knowing about God and knowing the Father. Jesus didn’t just show up with good advice—He came to bring us home. This weekend, lean into that invitation. The cross is proof that grace runs toward you, not away from you. Let that change how you show up, how you love, and how you live.

Thanks for hanging out in your inbox with us. Let’s keep following Jesus—and see where the week takes us. See you Sunday!

P.S. Grace doesn’t wait for the apology. It doesn’t stand back and assess your worthiness. It runs—interrupting shame, rewriting the ending, and welcoming you all the way home.
