The Grave Doesn’t Get the Last Word

Jesus already rewrote the ending.

Hey there SCC Family !

Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol 2. Issue 38!

If your week’s been feeling a bit like dust, you’re not alone—but the good news? Glory is coming.

On Sunday, Colby wrapped up our series on the Nicene Creed with a powerful reminder: “We look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.” That hope isn’t wishful thinking—it’s our anchor. Jesus doesn’t just beat death in theory; He rewrites the ending. From Daniel’s vision to Paul’s promise, the story of God has always pointed toward resurrection. And when we live with that in mind, even the hardest things get reframed. We’re not just waiting for glory—we’re being shaped for it.

If resurrection feels like a distant idea or a Sunday-only thought, this week’s blog will reframe that. It’s not about what happens “someday”—it’s about how we live right now. The hope of glory changes how we walk through grief, pain, and pressure. It gives weight to every small act of faith.

Prefer to hear it in conversation?
This week’s Between the Shores podcast dives deeper. Raw, honest, and rooted in Scripture, it’s a timely reminder of why resurrection still matters—and what it means to live like it.

Not a big reader? We get it—sometimes you just need a good message in your ears.

Our Sunday messages are up as a podcast every week. Perfect for your next walk, drive, or dishwashing session. Just search Summerside Community Church on Apple Podcasts or Spotify You can also watch the full message anytime on our website’s sermon hub.

Henk is back with Part 3 in Keys to the Kingdom, and this week he’s getting practical. We’re diving into four key areas where the Kingdom of God bears real fruit in our lives—and the strongholds that often stand in the way. From idols and isolation to trauma and weariness, Jesus has a key for each one. Expect good questions, honest reflection, and Kingdom answers that actually change how we live.

Connect Groups Are Starting!
Joel’s been hard at work behind the scenes, helping prepare another great season of Connect Groups—and some are already taking shape! This fall, we’re building groups around four simple types: Focus, Interests, Needs, and Projects. We’ve heard from many people who are eager to join a group, but here’s the challenge: we need more leaders. If you’ve ever thought about opening your home, gathering some friends, or sharing a passion—you might be the answer to someone’s prayer. Talk to Joel to explore what leading could look like. You don’t have to do it alone.

Coming Soon:
Hope Fellowship kicks off Wednesday, October 8 at 10 AM. Seniors are invited to gather for worship, testimonies, teaching, open discussion, prayer, communion, and lunch—a meaningful time to explore what it means to carry the Kingdom and bear fruit in every season.

We’re grateful for every act of generosity that fuels the mission here at SCC. It’s been amazing to see what we’ve already built together—and with just 15 Sundays left in the year, there’s still time to finish strong. Below is a snapshot of where giving stands so far in 2025. If you’ve been considering a gift or setting up regular giving, this is a great time to jump in.

Every quarter, we give 10% of general fund giving to a mission focus:
Q1 → Kaleo International, helping fund roofs for growing churches in Sudan
Q2 → YWAM, supporting Jazmyn Gallant, Isaac Gillis, and the Cairns family in their missions training and outreach
Q3 → Loaves & Fishes, serving hot meals and offering dignity to our neighbours in need

As we step into September, we want you to know that 10% of all general fund giving this month will go directly to Loaves & Fishes—a ministry that’s making a real impact by feeding our local community. Every dollar given makes a difference, and this month, it’s helping put food on tables and hope in hearts. Thank you for giving faithfully, prayerfully, and with purpose.

Total so far = 1,130

Be Part of the Elev8 Team

Our teens are growing, asking big questions, and learning what it means to follow Jesus—and they need adults who are willing to walk with them. Elev8 Youth is looking for volunteers to help create a safe, welcoming space on Thursday nights. You don’t need to be a pro—just present. Good at games? Great. More of a quiet encourager? That works too. If you’re interested, talk to Colby. We’d love to have you on the team.

We’re setting aside space to pray for our city, province, and nation. Join us Saturdays at 6:30 PM in the Multipurpose Room as we bring leaders, communities, and churches before God, trusting Him to lead with wisdom and peace.

When you know the ending, you can live differently in the middle. The resurrection doesn’t just promise rest someday—it invites us to rest now. Sabbath makes space to re-center, to remember who’s actually in charge, and to trust that the world keeps turning even when we pause. As you head into the weekend, find a moment to breathe and let hope hold your pace.

Nations Night – Tomorrow at 7 PM!
You’re invited to a powerful evening at SCC—Thursday, September 19 at 7 PM. We’ll gather for worship, hear stories from the mission field, and respond to the call of Jesus to follow wherever He leads. 🌍🔥

If you’re curious about what God is doing around the world, exploring your own calling, or simply longing to be in His presence, come join us. Let’s seek Him together and be stirred to live on mission.

One More Thought
What you believe about the future shapes how you live today. If Jesus is alive—and He is—then every moment holds purpose. Every act of kindness echoes into eternity. We’re not called to drift or deconstruct. We’re called to grow. To love Jesus back. To live awake, wholehearted, and anchored in the hope that death doesn’t get the final say. Maturity and mission aren’t optional—they’re part of what it means to follow a risen King.

See You Sunday- We love doing life and faith with you. Let’s keep showing up, lifting Jesus high, and living it out together.

P.S. Glory is coming—but Jesus meets us in the dust, too. In the ordinary, the weary, the unresolved. And somehow, even there, He makes us new. Keep your eyes on Him. He’s not finished yet.
