The Jar, The Stones, The Trust
Start with the big things.

Hey there SCC Family !
Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol 3. Issue 8!
A glass jar filled in the right order can say more than we expect. Place the larger stones first, and everything else settles around them. Leave them out, and the rest never quite fits.
On Sunday, we considered what belongs at the center of our lives. Don guided us through the biblical roots of tithing as an act of trust and worship. From the care of the Levites in the Old Testament to Jesus’ teaching about treasure and the heart, Scripture shows us that generosity grows from a relationship with God. Everything we hold, money, time, strength, opportunity, resources, has first been placed in our hands by Him. As we learn to see life that way, gratitude deepens, and trust takes shape. Quiet faithfulness becomes a steady declaration: God, You are my source.
If Sunday stirred something in you, the blog picks up that thread and carries it a little further. It’s a simple reflection on what it means to trust God with what we already hold in our hands. Think of it as a midweek pause to reset your focus and remember who your source really is. There wasn’t a new Between the Shores episode this week, yet the podcast playlist is always there if you’d like to revisit a conversation that helps you keep following Jesus in everyday life.

Strength to Strength is almost here. This Saturday at 6:30 p.m., we’ll take time to reflect on where God has been at work among us and look ahead with hope to what He is forming next. It will be an evening of shared stories, honest gratitude, and forward vision as we listen together for His leading. Refreshments will be provided, and there will be space to connect and linger. We would love for you to be part of it.

Pre-Service Prayer
Prayer is available before the service from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. If you would like someone to pray with you, the prayer team will be near the Prayer Room in the Great Room.
This Sunday, Scott Nash and Ron Goddard will guide us into a conversation on Debt and Savings as part of our Doorway to Hope series. We are exploring Kingdom principles and how they shape the everyday realities of following Jesus. Money can be challenging, yet Jesus spoke about it often because it reveals what we trust and value.
We will look at practical wisdom for stewarding what has been entrusted to us. At the centre is Jesus Himself. These principles only make sense when He is our source and our freedom. The doorway to hope opens as we surrender to the One who leads us, and as we walk with Him, even our finances begin to find their proper place.
![]() | On Sunday mornings, a small hand reaches for a volunteer and heads toward the nursery. It seems simple, yet it creates space for a child to feel safe and for a parent to worship with peace. |
These early years matter. Quiet faithfulness in a room with toys and storybooks becomes part of how children begin to know they are loved. Kids Church meets in the Kids Wing and classes begin at the start of the service. The Kids Wing door closes once classes are underway, so arriving a few minutes early helps children settle in well and supports our team as they care for your family.
Our nursery serves children ages one and two, and we are looking for one more volunteer to join the team, serving one week on and two weeks off. If you sense a nudge to help care for our youngest ones, please talk with Freddy or email him at [email protected]

Tax Information:
Your tax receipts are ready. Temba will have them available at our From Strength to Strength meeting on Saturday evening. If you’ll be there, you can pick yours up in person. Thank you for your faithfulness and generosity. We’re grateful for the way you continue to support what God is doing among us.

“In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength.”
—Isaiah 30:15
Isaiah spoke these words to a people searching for security in all the wrong places. God invited them to return to Him, to draw close again, to rest in His protection rather than striving to secure their own future. Trust looks like coming back when we have wandered. It looks like resting instead of scrambling. It carries a quiet steadiness that does not need to argue or defend itself. It grows into confidence rooted in who God is. As you move through this week, where might He be inviting you to return, to be still, and to trust Him with a deeper confidence? Strength often rises from that very place.

For the next 40 days, we are stepping into a simple rhythm of prayer as we move toward Easter. Lent has often been described as a journey into the desert. Not a place of emptiness, but a place of clarity where distractions quiet and we learn to listen again. If you are looking for a steady guide along the way, the Lectio 365 Prayer App offers short daily reflections rooted in Scripture and shaped by the historic practice of lectio divina. It is an accessible way to pray each day, creating space to slow down, hear Jesus, and let His Word form you over time. If you would like to learn more about Lectio 365 and how it works, click the button below.
Lent & Baptism
From the earliest days of the Church, Lent has been a season of preparation. It began as a focused time of prayer and reflection for those preparing to be baptized at Easter. Over time, the whole Church stepped into that rhythm together, slowing down to examine the heart and renew trust in God.
Lent creates space to notice what is being formed within us. It invites repentance, renewal, and attentiveness to the quiet work of the Holy Spirit. Baptism stands at the center of that journey, marking a visible step into life with Jesus and into His Church.
Baptism sits at the heart of this season, marking a visible step into life with Jesus and into the community of faith. Baptism Sunday is coming up, and if baptism has been on your mind and you sense a growing readiness, we would be honoured to walk through that conversation with you. Click the button below or sign up at the Hub on Sunday, and someone will be in touch to help you take the next step.
Deep Cleaning Days This Week!
There is something quietly meaningful about caring for the space where we worship, pray, and gather. Clear windows. Straightened shelves. Corners noticed. The small details reflect love for the place God has entrusted to us.
Deep Cleaning Days are simple and steady. We show up, put on some music, pour a cup of coffee, and get to work together. A couple of hours can make a real difference, and the conversation along the way is often just as valuable as the tasks themselves.
THURS, FEB 26 | 11:00–2:00
SAT, FEB 28 | 9:00–12:00
If these dates do not work for you, check the whiteboard in the lobby and choose a task to complete during office hours this week. You can sign up below or at the Hub on Sunday.

In Acts 2, the early believers gathered around tables as often as they gathered in prayer. Scripture tells us they devoted themselves to teaching, fellowship, breaking bread, and prayer. They shared meals with glad and sincere hearts, and something beautiful happened in that ordinary rhythm. Community deepened. Needs were met. Joy grew. Our Freedom Feast on February 28 at 5 p.m. is a simple expression of that same heartbeat. Chili will be on the menu, and there will be space to sit, linger, and share life together. If you plan to come, please sign up using the button below or at the Hub on Sunday so we can prepare well for everyone at the table.

Isaac Gillis serves faithfully on our Tech Team and invests in our youth. Even as one of our younger leaders, he brings a steady presence and a willingness to step in wherever needed. He shows up prepared, attentive, and ready to help create space where others can encounter Jesus. We are grateful for the consistency and quiet leadership he brings to our church.
If you’re sensing a desire to step in a little more, serving on a team is a meaningful place to begin. It’s where friendships grow, gifts are discovered, and everyday moments become part of how others encounter Jesus. Preparing coffee, running slides, welcoming at the door, or caring for children all play a quiet role in shaping our life together. We would be glad to help you find a place that fits.
Life at SCC continues to unfold in steady and meaningful ways, and there is space for you within it. Upcoming events, opportunities to serve, and pathways for growth are all gathered in one place on our website. Take a few minutes to explore what’s happening and consider what your next step might be.
For the Days Ahead…
What has God already placed in your hands? Time, money, influence, resources, opportunities. None of it is accidental. Each gift carries an invitation. Trust rarely announces itself with noise. It grows through small decisions, through steady obedience, through simple prayers whispered in ordinary moments. When God is placed at the center, the rest of life begins to settle into its proper place. As you step into the weekend and the week to come, consider one area where you can loosen your grip and lean into trust. A quiet yes can become a powerful declaration: You are my source.
Thanks for being part of what God is building here. We love walking this out with you. See you Sunday.

P.S. If the image of the jar has stayed with you, try it this week. Name the “big stones” God is asking you to place first. Sometimes clarity begins with something that simple.
