The Life That Really Matters
It’s not about status—it’s about surrender, service, and love.

Hello SCC Family !
Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol 2. Issue 17.
Let’s face it—when the world tells us to climb higher, Jesus shows us how to kneel lower. This past Sunday, Tracy shared a message from Philippians 2:1–11, reminding us that the Jesus-shaped life isn’t about recognition or power—it’s about humility, unity, and love that shows up in real ways. The first witnesses of the risen Jesus didn’t recognize Him by sight, but by His nature. They encountered mercy, not might. Peace, not posturing. And it changed everything.
Need a reset this week? The blog reminds us that the Jesus-shaped life isn’t about striving, but about staying close to the One who chose humility, mercy, and love. Take a few moments to read, reflect, and ask what it looks like to carry that same heart into your week. Click Here to Read ➡️➡️➡️➡️ |
Prefer to listen? You can catch the full Sunday message on Apple Podcasts or Spotify (just search Summerside Community Church). While there’s no new Between the Shores episode this week due to Easter Monday, last week’s conversation is still a great companion as we continue exploring a Jesus-shaped life. | ![]() |

This Sunday, Colby continues our Jesus-Shaped Life series with a message from Philippians 2:12–30: Rejoicing Together.
Paul invites the church to shine like stars in the world—living in unity, grounded in humility, and overflowing with joy. It’s a picture of what happens when we walk closely with Jesus and with each other. As partners in the gospel, we’re not called to go it alone—we’re called to reflect His love together. We’ll be exploring:
Unity that strengthens the body
Joy that grows through serving others
What it looks like to reflect Jesus in everyday life
Come with an open heart and a willingness to be part of something bigger than yourself.

From April 7 to 28, we’re gathering each evening from 6:30–7:30 PM at SCC for a focused hour of prayer. (Sundays & Tuesdays are on Zoom.) As Election Day approaches, we’re setting aside this time to pray for Canada—asking God to move with wisdom, healing, and hope across our nation.
📅 Special Note: On Election Day—Monday, April 28—we’ll also meet on Zoom at 8 AM for a special time of prayer. Let’s seek God’s will over our land and believe together for a season shaped by His peace and presence.

Just a quick heads-up—Consolidated Credit Union will be upgrading their system from April 25–27, which may affect some online donations.
If you give through Interac e-Transfer, your gift may not go through during the upgrade window. You can still give by e-Transfer before April 25 or after April 27. After the update, you may need to re-add your recipient info. What to watch for:
Your recipient list may need to be re-added
Autodeposit settings may need updating
Your e-Transfer history may no longer be visible
Envelopes will be available on Sunday at the Hub and in the baskets near your seat. You can also give online anytime using Nucleus Giving: 👉 Give Online

Starting May 12, Tracy will be taking a three-month sabbatical—a rhythm we follow every seven years as a way to make space for rest and renewal. The time includes one month of vacation and two months set aside for prayer, study, and spiritual refreshment.
Why do we do this? Because rest isn’t just a good idea—it’s part of God’s design. Just as the land was given a sabbath in Scripture, those who lead also need space to pause and be restored. This isn’t stepping away—it’s stepping back to be filled.
It’s also a chance for us, as a church, to lean in. Sabbaticals strengthen the whole body by opening the door for new voices, shared leadership, and a fresh reminder that Jesus is the true head of His Church. Let’s pray for Tracy—and for one another—as we walk into this season with faith and expectancy.

Are You Ready to Respond? When disaster strikes, Samaritan’s Purse Canada steps in—bringing practical help and the hope of Jesus to those in crisis. On Wednesday, April 30 from 6–8 PM, join us at SCC for Ready to Respond—a behind-the-scenes look at how volunteers and staff serve on the front lines of wildfires, floods, and other disasters. You’ll hear powerful stories from the field, learn what it means to be part of this vital work, and discover how you can get involved. Doors open at 5:30 PM, and light refreshments will be served. Admission is free. | ![]() |

Looking to Serve? We’re currently looking for a few friendly faces to help with Communion Duties and Inner Door Greeting. These simple roles make a big impact—creating a welcoming environment and supporting the flow of Sunday mornings.
📋 A Sign-up sheet will be available this Sunday at the Hub! Or you can sign up HERE!
If you enjoy making people feel at home or love the behind-the-scenes stuff that keeps things running smoothly, this could be a great fit.

Dorothy Fry has been faithfully serving at SCC for years—and she’s still going strong. While she recently passed the baton on shopping for our café and communion supplies, you’ll still find her greeting at the doors, helping with Loaves and Fishes, and always ready to jump in where needed. Her steady presence and generous heart have been a gift to this community.
Stay Connected - There’s always more happening beyond Sundays. Take a moment to explore our website—you might find your next step, a way to get involved, or just the encouragement you didn’t know you needed.
Weekend’s coming—why not let it be more than just a break? Let it be a reminder that how we live matters. The Jesus-shaped life isn’t flashy or loud—it shows up in the small things: a humble attitude, a kind word, a choice to serve. Paul’s words to the Philippians challenge us to live like that—not just for ourselves, but for each other. Let’s carry that into whatever this weekend holds.
Thanks for being part of what God is doing here. We can’t wait to see you Sunday!

P.S. If you get a moment before Sunday, read Philippians 2:12–30. It’s a great setup for what’s ahead—and a reminder of what it means to live with joy, unity, and purpose.
