The underrated power of showing up
Hope grows in the smallest moments.

Hey there SCC Family !
Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol 2. Issue 48!
Something about this time of year makes the small things feel a little louder. On Sunday, Joel helped us notice how the closing verses of Colossians highlight people whose steady trust shaped the early church. They prayed with perseverance, encouraged one another, opened their homes, and carried the work of Jesus together. Their stories remind us that faith often grows in ordinary places and that hope quietly strengthens us through the relationships God brings into our lives.
The blog offers a quiet moment to pause and notice what Jesus may be highlighting in your week. It brings the heart of Sunday’s teaching into a simple reflection you can return to anytime. It is a steady reminder that spiritual growth often begins with paying attention to the small things again. | Between the Shores gives you the same themes from Sunday in an easy listening format. It is a gentle conversation that fits into your everyday rhythm and creates space to reflect as you go. If you enjoy processing ideas while you move, this is a natural way to carry the message forward. |

Pre-Service Prayer
A simple moment of prayer can shift the whole morning. From 9:30 to 10:00, our prayer team will be in the Great Room for anyone who would like someone to stand with them in prayer. It is a quiet and welcoming space to begin the day with God’s nearness.
This Sunday, we light the candle of Peace and take a gentle step deeper into Advent. Tracy will be sharing about the kind of peace that settles the soul, steadies our thoughts, and invites us to rest like a child leaning into a trusted parent. It is a moment to breathe, release the hurry, and let the peace of Jesus shape the rhythm of the week ahead.
After the Service This Sunday
There’s a lot happening once the service wraps up. You can grab a bowl of chili in the Café to support Colby’s fundraiser, stop by the Multi-Purpose Room for the Niagara mission trip info session, browse a book table featuring authors from our church family (perfect for Christmas gifting), and check out the necklaces the Niagara team will be selling to help raise funds for the trip.
Right after the service, the cafe will turn into chili central. You can enter a pot or grab a bowl for lunch and support Colby as he prepares for his upcoming mission work. Every spoonful helps, and it is a fun way to share a meal and encourage him at the same time. | ![]() |
![]() | Applications are open for our 2026 missions team, and we would love to explore this with anyone sensing a nudge to go. A brief information session will take place right after the service this Sunday. If the trip sparks your curiosity at all, come join us for a few minutes. You can also apply online anytime, and the deadline to submit applications is the end of December. |
Mission Opportunity! Praying Pelican Missions is looking for local PEI folks to join their seasonal team. If you love Jesus, love people, and have a few weeks to give, this might be your adventure. Learn more at ppm.org/employment.

As we come toward the end of the year, we want to say thank you for the steady generosity that has carried our ministry forward. Every gift has helped strengthen the work happening here at SCC and through our mission partners. If you are planning year-end giving, contributions must be received by December 31st to be included on this year’s tax receipt. Thank you for giving with such faith and care. It makes a real difference.
![]() | Every year, our church family steps into the Christmas season with open hands and generous hearts. The Christmas Blessing fund allows us to come alongside local families who could use some extra support, offering help in a way that feels gentle and dignifying. Our goal this year is $3,000, and we have already received $1,305. |
If you feel led to give, you can mark “Christmas Blessing” on your envelope or include it in the memo line of your e-transfer. All gifts must be received by December fourteenth. Thank you for helping bring hope a little closer to home this Christmas.

Youth Group Leadership Meeting
Ignite Youth is in an important season, and we want our teens to keep feeling supported and surrounded by people who care about their growth. As we continue searching for the right person to step into the Youth Pastor role, we’re gathering a mix of staff, parents, and volunteers to help strengthen the support around our youth leaders.
We’ll meet on Sunday, December 14, from 12:30 to 2 p.m., after the Sunday service. This will be a space to share ideas, hear about current needs, and explore what could be possible as we look ahead.
Parents of youth, current Ignite leaders, and anyone who has a heart for the next generation are welcome to join us. Light refreshments will be available.

Nativity: Night of Music returns to the Harbourfront Theatre on December 22 at 6:30 p.m. This community production brings the Christmas story to life through music, movement, and a cast of children. Familiar carols such as “Silent Night,” “Away in a Manger,” and “Angels We Have Heard on High” are woven into a creative retelling of Jesus’ birth. There will also be a special performance at St. Paul’s Parish on December 21 at 4:00 p.m., and no tickets are required for that performance.
We are grateful to the Summerside Christian Council, the Harbourfront Theatre, and St. Dunstan’s University for partnering with us to share this story with our wider community.
For details or to reserve seats, visit harbourfronttheatre.com or call the box office at 902-888-2500.

Christmas Eve is almost here, and our church family will gather at 4 p.m. for From Everlasting to Manger. It’s a simple, beautiful moment to pause and remember that Jesus didn’t begin at Bethlehem; He stepped into our world from eternity to redeem and reign forever. We’d love for you to join us as we celebrate the One who has always been with us.

Peace has a way of finding us when we finally slow down a little. Advent invites us to take those small pauses that remind our hearts who is with us. At some point this week, take a breath, quiet the noise around you, and let the peace of Jesus settle over your day.

If you’ve ever joined us for Thursday morning worship or received prayer on a Sunday, you have probably experienced the kindness Elizabeth Bryant carries. She serves on our prayer teams and helps lead our Thursday morning worship and prayer time, creating a gentle space for people to meet with God. Her steady presence and quiet strength encourage so many in our church family, and we are really thankful for her.
Looking to get more involved? Joining a team is a great way to build community, discover your strengths, and help others experience Jesus along the way. From making coffee to running slides, greeting at the door to helping with kids—there’s a place for you. Let’s find it together.
There’s always something taking shape at SCC—and we’d love for you to be part of it. From upcoming events to ways to serve and grow, our website is the best place to explore what’s happening. Take a look and find your next step.
One More Thought…
It’s funny how the quiet moments often sneak up on us. Advent has a way of slipping peace into places we never thought to look. When you show up with an open heart, you might be surprised by how near Jesus feels in the rhythm of an ordinary week. Keep your eyes open for those small, steady moments. They have a way of shaping your whole day.
Thanks for being part of what God is building here. We love walking this out with you—and we’ll see you Sunday.

P.S. If peace feels out of reach, take one slow breath. Jesus meets you right there.
