Unfolding God’s Plan in Our Lives

The Bridge #32

Hey there SCC Family ! Welcome to the 32nd edition of The Bridge! Thursdays are quickly becoming the new favourite—almost the weekend but still productive. Perfect, right?

This Sunday, Tracy shared how beautifully God works with us, turning our challenges into opportunities to grow and shine. She describes God not as a distant figure but as a close friend who walks with us, helping us become more like Christ each day. It’s not about external change but an inner transformation. Just like a caterpillar becomes a butterfly, we change and grow, becoming the best version of ourselves with Christ’s guidance. Tracy clears up any misunderstandings about God being distant or uncaring, highlighting how deeply involved He is in our lives, especially during tough times. By embracing God’s plan and opening our hearts to His guidance, we become living examples of His love and purpose, impacting not only our lives but those around us.

Tracy also emphasized the importance of clearly seeing God, others, and ourselves. God’s love is essential for this journey. Remember Henk’s message about how trauma can block our ability to experience God’s love? At SCC, we offer resources like Inner Healing Prayer ministries through SOZO and Heart SYNC, counselling with IHTC’s new counsellor, Celebrate Recovery, and Soul Intent with Jane Sider for spiritual direction and coaching. Additionally, Joy Fit and the Daniel Plan provide a Bible-based whole-body approach to healing. Don’t forget the Trauma Conference on September 27-29th at SCC for more support and healing.

You can watch Tracy’s sermon HERE.

For more discussions, check out the latest episode of Listening and Responding HERE. Note that Tracy will be on vacation for the next two weeks, and the next episode will be on August 26.

We’re excited to have Cheryl Millman speaking this week! She’ll be exploring 2 Corinthians 2:14-16, which talks about how our lives can spread the knowledge of Christ like a sweet perfume. Her message, “Do I Stink?” promises to be both thought-provoking and inspiring. Don’t forget to read the passage before Sunday to get the most out of her talk.

After the service, join us for Baptism Sunday at 2 pm at Cabot Beach. It’s a special time for our community, and we’d love to have you there. Thinking about getting baptized? Life can be full of challenges, but what if we saw these moments as opportunities for growth? God doesn’t discard us when we’re weak; instead, He works through our struggles. Our newest blog post, “Love Changes Everything,” shares how God’s love transforms us from within, turning our difficulties into moments where His Spirit can shine. It’s not about avoiding pain but embracing it, allowing it to bring us closer to God’s purpose for our lives. How are you nurturing your faith amid challenges? Natalie Murray lights up our church with her energy and enthusiasm. Whether she’s flagging and dancing during services, serving with a smile at the Connect Cafe, or running slides in the AV room, she adds a special touch to everything she does. When you see Natalie, give her a big thank you for all the joy she brings to our church family!

As we head into this weekend, let’s remember that all our work is for God, no matter our job or role. Whether you’re a farmer, fisherman, salesperson, or repair technician, your first vocation is to Him. How we treat people, our company, and our community reflects our faith. Embrace your weaknesses, work for peace and justice, and share the gospel boldly.

God’s work for you is right where you are—in your home, workplace, community, and friendships. He’s working all things together for good. Be open to what He’s doing in and through you each day. Ask Him to show you—He loves to do that!

Thanks for taking a moment to catch up with us in this edition of The Bridge Weekly. We love sharing this journey with you and can't wait to connect again next week!

P.S. Don’t forget to read 2 Corinthians 2:14-16 before Sunday. These verses remind us how our lives can be a fragrant offering to God, spreading the knowledge of Christ everywhere. Let’s come prepared to dive into this powerful message together!
