Unshakeable Foundations

The Bridge #25

Hey there, SCC Family!

Hello everyone, welcome to the 25th Thursday of the year—or wait, did we skip number 24? Looks like I miscounted the Thursdays! Either way, we’re here now, so let’s dive into Tracy’s sermon on the enduring value of scripture and the foundation it provides us. In her message, she discusses the contrast between fleeting technological fixes and the deep, sustaining truths found in Romans 8.

Catch the full sermon HERE. Tracy has also invited us to join her in memorizing Romans 8 over our eight-week series. Imagine the impact of carrying these powerful verses in our hearts!

Also, don't miss out on the latest insights from Tracy's Listening & Responding episode HERE. It’s a great resource for those looking to deepen their understanding and strengthen their walk with the Holy Spirit.

This Sunday at SCC, we continue our deep dive into the rich teachings of Romans 8 in our ongoing series. It’s a great opportunity to deepen our understanding of scripture together. Join us afterward at the Connect Cafe to enjoy some great coffee and even better company. Let's share insights and connect over our shared journey in faith. It’s a perfect time to reflect on the sermon, discuss our insights, and enjoy the sense of community that makes our church so special. Looking forward to catching up with you there!

It’s that time again! Every quarter, we allocate 10% of our giving for a month to a mission-based organization. This month, our focus is on Open Door Outreach. They work with women in our Provincial Correctional Centre and community, addressing addiction and drug-related crimes. Their intervention during incarceration and recovery helps break the cycle of crime for individuals and their families, creating change directly at the source. You can be a part of changing the cycle. Our Total so far is $1,944!

God is eager to connect with us through the Bible, valuing His word even above His name. Understanding Scripture helps us understand His nature and our own identities. Think of the Bible not just as a historical record but as nourishment for our daily lives. How can recognizing God as the centrepiece of your life change how you approach each day? Jesus's life shows us that immersing ourselves in God's words can profoundly shape our daily decisions and the paths we choose.

Ever noticed how smooth Sunday mornings at our church are? That's thanks to Gordon, our dedicated early bird. From setting up chairs in the prayer room to arranging communion and guiding attendees, Gordon's effort ensures everything is in place. His commitment significantly enhances our gatherings, making everyone feel welcomed. How do you think Gordon’s readiness impacts your experience at church?

As we step into the weekend, let’s think about how our deep-seated values, much like the stones of an ancient wall, provide a strong foundation for our lives. It’s intriguing, isn’t it? How the principles passed down through generations, continue to offer stability amid our rapidly changing world. Think about the timeless wisdom found in scripture and how it anchors us amidst fleeting trends. Are we simply following the latest fad, or are we keeping true to the eternal truths taught by Jesus?

Thanks for taking a moment to catch up with us in this edition of The Bridge Weekly. We love sharing this journey with you and can't wait to connect again next week!

P.S. Romans 8:1-4 reminds us that there is no condemnation for those in Christ. Each day is an opportunity to walk in the freedom of the Spirit, breaking away from the old ways and embracing the new life God offers. How does this freedom shape your view of the week ahead? What new steps can you take today to live in this truth?
