Weekly Update March 9, 2024

Reflect, Connect, Celebrate

Hello,

As we look forward to the weekend, let's not forget - Daylight Savings Time kicks in this Sunday! With longer days on the horizon, it's a perfect moment to consider Tracy's invitation to reflect on who guides us through life's varied landscapes. Are we letting Jesus, our Good Shepherd, lead us through every high and low? This Thursday, let's ponder our path and who we're choosing to follow. Catch Tracy's thought-provoking discussion here.

Upcoming Events:

This week is packed with opportunities for connection, growth, and service:

For this March's Giving Initiative, we're inviting you to be a part of something truly impactful. With 10% of all General Fund contributions this month going directly to our NYC Mission Team, you have the opportunity to extend your support beyond our local community to those in need in New York City. Your generosity doesn't just meet immediate needs; it fosters lasting change and shares hope. Let's come together to make a significant difference in the lives of others.

March 17th stands out in our calendar with three special events:

  • Special Guest, Greg Musselman: We're honoured to have Greg Musselman from Voice Of The Martyrs (Canada) with us, sharing inspiring tales of unwavering faith in challenging times.

  • Book Sale Fundraiser with Isaac Gillis: After our morning service, dive into a selection of books in the lobby. Your purchases directly support Isaac's NYC Youth Mission trip, aiding the valuable work the team will be doing there.

  • Celebrate Colby Lidstone's Ordination: End the day with us at 6:30 pm, as we come together to celebrate Colby's ordination. Everyone is welcome as we acknowledge the Lord's calling on Colby's life. As a church, we are committed to supporting and stewarding this calling in his life.

March 17th promises enriching experiences for our community through support, inspiration, and celebration.  Don't miss out on these meaningful moments.

Last Sunday’s Message Recap: In her most recent sermon, Tracy explores the profound message of Psalm 23:4, "The Shepherd's Rod and Staff," highlighting how God's guidance and protection are our support through life's darkest valleys. Tracy encourages us to embrace our vulnerabilities, trust in the Shepherd's guidance, and find growth, peace, and comfort along the way. If you missed it or would like to reflect further, you can watch the message here.

This Sunday at 10 am, we warmly invite you to join us for a time of worship and heartfelt connection. Kick off the morning with preservice prayer at 9:15, as we prepare our hearts and minds to encounter God's presence. If you can't be with us physically, you're welcome to join our community via our live stream here. Whether you're with us in person or spirit, let's unite in faith and fellowship as we journey together.

Stay Connected: As part of our ongoing efforts to keep our church family connected, we want to remind you of the benefits of having an account on our Nucleus platform. Nucleus is your one-stop destination for managing event sign-ups, staying up-to-date with announcements, and tracking your contributions throughout the year. By creating your account, you'll enjoy a more connected and streamlined way to engage with all aspects of our church life. This initiative is part of our commitment to making participation in our community as enriching and accessible as possible. Visit our website and set up your account here to begin enjoying the benefits of staying connected. Let’s make the most of the resources we have to grow together as a community.

This week, truly reflect: are you allowing the Good Shepherd to guide you in every aspect of your life? Remember, choosing to follow Jesus means laying down our own paths for His, in both the good times and the challenging ones.

P.S.  I am humbled by the generosity and delighted by the laughter our SCC Family shared this past Sunday night at the Youth NYC Mission Trip Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser. Thank you for helping this team raise over $3000 towards their trip. May we all experience the overflow of this heartfelt blessing.
