Weekly Update November 16

Trust, Promise, and Miraculous Feedings

Hello,

A big thank you to all who contributed and joined us – your participation was greatly appreciated! We received an overwhelming response from all of you, describing it as an incredible time of community.

Join us in Bringing Joy to Families in Need this Christmas! Every year we do a Christmas blessing where we focus on supporting families in need. This year we will support families as well as single mothers who rely on the Island Pregnancy Centre. We understand that not everyone can contribute financially, but there are other meaningful ways to give. We're seeking 20 individuals to share a heartfelt message, scripture, or prayer in a Christmas card that will be included with the Christmas Blessing gifts. Let's spread God's love and make a difference in someone's life this Christmas! If you're looking to donate directly to Christmas Blessing, please make sure to specify this when making your gift.

Final Reminder: Don't Miss Your Chance to Contribute to Operation Christmas Child. This week marks the last opportunity to donate shoeboxes to Operation Christmas Child. Our team will be accepting donations in the lobby on November 17, between 4-8 p.m., and November 18, between 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Your generosity will transform the lives of children in need. Please remember to bring your filled shoeboxes to our lobby by the drop-off dates.

Here's what's happening in our church this week:

Celebrating Margo's Retirement and Welcoming Temba to the Financial Assistant Position. On November 5th, we announced that Margo MacKinnon, our beloved Financial Assistant, will retire. Her contributions to the church office over the past six years have been invaluable, and she will be sorely missed. Her diligent, trustworthy, and loyal work has been exemplary.Replacing Margo is Temba Ngwenya, who has been part of our financial team for the past year. Temba is a skilled accountant who loves the church and enjoys working with numbers. He brings lots of experience, a kind demeanour, a great laugh, and a strong work ethic to the team. We are thrilled to have him as our new Financial Assistant and look forward to working with him as he transitions into his new role.

Open Door Outreach is currently seeking donations of men's winter jackets of all sizes. These jackets will be given to men who have been released from jail. You can drop off your donations at SCC throughout November. Just look for the designated bin and signage in the lobby. Your support is greatly appreciated!
