Weekly Update November 23

Hello,

Join us in bringing joy to families in need this Christmas! Every year we do a Christmas blessing where we focus on supporting families in need. This year we will support families as well as single mothers who rely on the Island Pregnancy Centre. We understand that not everyone can contribute financially, but there are other meaningful ways to give. We're seeking 20 individuals to share a heartfelt message, scripture, or prayer in a Christmas card that will be included with the Christmas Blessing gifts. Let's spread God's love and make a difference in someone's life this Christmas! If you're looking to donate directly to Christmas Blessing, please make sure to specify this when making your gift. 

Join us for a special Christmas Eve service! Mark your calendars for December 24th and get ready to celebrate the birth of Jesus with us. This year, we'll be starting at 11 am instead of our usual 10 am, so make sure to adjust your schedule accordingly. Join us with your loved ones for an hour of worshipping our Saviour. We can't wait to share this special time with you!

Please note that our giving update section may not be updated every week. While we strive to provide regular updates, there may be occasions when circumstances prevent us from doing so. Thank you for being part of our community and for your continued support.

Open Door Outreach is currently seeking donations of men's winter jackets of all sizes. These jackets will be given to men who have been released from jail. You can drop off your donations at SCC throughout November. Just look for the designated bin and signage in the lobby. Your support is greatly appreciated!

In Sunday’s installment of the "I Am" statements of Jesus series, 

Colby focused on the name "I am the gate" or "I am the door" used by Jesus in John 10:7. The message calls for a genuine pursuit of Jesus, leaving behind personal desires and idols to embrace everything that Jesus offers. Colby calls us to action, encouraging ‘us’, the church, to actively choose Jesus as the ‘only door’ and the ‘only way’ to live each day. This intentional daily choice is not a mere ‘to-do’ list but a life-changing journey into a deeper and more personal relationship with the Good Shepherd, who leads us to the real life He promises. Tracy's "Listening & Responding" Segment Recap: Colby delivered a powerful message on Sunday. In this series, Tracy dug further into the 2nd statement where Jesus says, "I am the gate or door!" Jesus was referencing the sheep pen which was made of walls of stone where there is only one way in and one way out. He is the door, it’s only through him that we have access in and out. To really understand why Jesus was responding the way he did, it's important to read John 8-10 as a whole. This invites us to explore our own reactions—where does He offend and attract us?
