What Fuels the Fire in You?

The Bridge Weekly Vol 2 Issue 3

Hey SCC Family !

Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol. 2, Issue 3! As we settle into 2025, this is the perfect time to focus on what God is stirring in our lives and hearts. With the holidays behind us, we can embrace the opportunity to reset, listen, and lean into His plans for the year ahead. It’s a fresh season, and we’re excited to walk through it together as a church family.

This past Sunday, Tracy shared how God’s love is a refining fire—a force that doesn’t destroy but purifies, shaping us into people who reflect His goodness. Through stillness, prayer, and openness to the Holy Spirit, we can nurture the flame of His love in our hearts. If you missed the message, you can catch it here.

In their latest Listening & Responding episode, Tracy and Joel expanded on this theme, reminding us that God often works through the messiest parts of our lives to bring clarity and transformation. Just like the ash from a fire can clean a stove’s glass, God can use our struggles to reveal His presence and draw us closer. It’s not about being perfect—it’s about making space for Him to move.

Catch the full episode here and take time this week to reflect on His refining love. Let’s embrace His work in our lives and trust Him to lead us forward!

This Sunday, Joel will share insights from his recent spiritual retreat, drawing from John 10 and Matthew 11:12. His message dives into the tension between trusting God to communicate His love and living that out through faith and obedience. How do we hear the Father’s heart and let His Word shape our actions? Joel will challenge us to wrestle with these questions as we grow in faith, learning to trust and respond to His voice in our daily lives.

The Daily Examen is a simple yet powerful way to reflect on God’s presence and love. Using the 5-Rs—Relish, Request, Review, Repent, Resolve—you can take a few moments each evening to express gratitude, seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance, reflect on your day, release regrets, and commit to living differently tomorrow. Fallen off the wagon with your Bible reading? You’re not alone, and here’s the good news—you probably read more of the Bible than before, and that’s something to celebrate! The start of a new year is the perfect time to jump back in. Whether it’s picking up where you left off or starting fresh, this is your opportunity to reconnect with God’s Word. Let’s dive back in together and keep growing!

Life often pulls us in many directions, leaving us feeling drained or disconnected. But what if we saw God’s love not as another demand but as the source that fuels and restores us? This week’s blog explores how His love is like a fire—not one that consumes and exhausts, but one that refines and empowers. Have you paused to tend to that flame within? As we make space for stillness and reflection, God’s love renews and shapes us, helping us burn brightly without burning out. It’s a journey of learning to rely on His presence, letting go of distractions, and trusting Him to guide us each day.

There’s so much more to discover—read the full blog here and be encouraged to let His love transform how you live and love this week.

Paul Russo is an essential part of our church family, serving faithfully on both the coffee team and the communion team. Whether he’s brewing a fresh pot or helping with communion, Paul’s cheerful willingness to step in wherever he’s needed is truly appreciated. We’re so thankful for his servant heart and the difference he makes every week—thank you, Paul!

This weekend, let’s take a moment to think about how God is always working, even in the messy parts of our lives. It’s amazing how He can take the very things we struggle with and use them to bring clarity and growth. Like cleaning glass with ash from a fire, He doesn’t waste a single thing. Maybe this week is a chance to let go of distractions or comforts that hold us back and trust Him to do something new. His love refines us, not to overwhelm but to make room for more of Him. Let’s stay open to His voice and ready for what He has in store.

Thanks for taking the time to connect with us through this week’s issue of The Bridge Weekly! It’s a joy to know you’re staying engaged and part of the conversation. We’re already looking forward to next week’s update! Until then, may you be guided by His peace, sustained by His love, and filled with His joy as you walk closely with Him. Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

P.S. As we prepare for Sunday, take some time to reflect on John 10 and Matthew 11:12. Joel will explore how trusting God’s love and living it out in obedience go hand in hand. Let’s come ready to listen, wrestle with these truths, and be challenged to hear and respond to His voice in our daily lives.
