What if peace starts with prayer?

Paul says to bring it all to God—with joy, gratitude, and trust.

Hey there SCC Family !

Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol 2. Issue 22! If anxiety had a volume knob, prayer is how you turn it down. Sunday’s message reminded us that prayer isn’t just a reaction to chaos—it’s a steady way of life. Joel walked us through Philippians 4:1–9, where Paul calls us to live with joy, gentleness, and a peace that doesn’t depend on circumstances. It’s not about ignoring the hard stuff—but inviting God right into the middle of it.

Missed Sunday? The message is available on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify—just search Summerside Community Church You can also catch the full message anytime on our website’s sermon hub.

Looking for a midweek reset? This week’s blog draws from Sunday’s message and gives you a quick shot of clarity and truth. It’s short, but don’t scroll past it—it might be just the reminder you need. Read it here

Need a deeper dive into the message? This week’s Between the Shores podcast is up on our YouTube channel—perfect for your next walk, drive, or coffee break. Joel and Heather unpack Philippians 4 and talk about what it really means to pray with gratitude and live with peace.

Good news—Natasha is on the upswing! Recovery hasn’t been a breeze, but she’s getting stronger and hopes to be back with us this Sunday (she might be moving a little slowly, but she’ll be smiling).

Also, in case you missed it—our office is now closed Friday mornings for the summer. Monday to Thursday is your best bet to catch someone.

We’re wrapping up A Jesus-Shaped Life this week with a message from Joel on Philippians 4:10–23. It’s a passage about learning to be content—not just when things go well, but in every circumstance. Whether Paul had plenty or nothing, he had learned to rest in Jesus. Join us as we explore what it means to live with quiet confidence, open hands, and the kind of strength that only comes from Christ.

June is Missions Giving Month! This year, 10% of all General Fund giving will go directly toward helping support Isaac Gillis and Jazmyn Gallant as they prepare to join Youth With a Mission (YWAM) this fall.

YWAM is a global ministry focused on training and sending young people to share Jesus across the world—and we’re excited to stand behind Isaac and Jazmyn as they step into this call. Want to learn more? Catch them in the lobby on Sundays!

We’re raising $4,000 to fund our Summer Ministry Internship. This is more than a summer job—it’s a chance to invest in the next generation of ministry leaders through real mentorship and hands-on experience.

You can give in all the usual ways (cash, cheque, eTransfer—just note “summer student”), or just reply to this email or click the button below.

Thanks for helping us pour into what’s next.

Every Saturday night from 6:30–7:30 PM at Centre 150, we’re setting aside time to pray for Canada—its leaders, its future, and its people. There’s no agenda, just space to listen, intercede, and invite God to move. If your heart has been stirred to keep praying after the 22 Days of Prayer, this is for you.

Tracy has been on a short sabbatical since May 12 and will return in mid-August—a time set aside for rest, reflection, and spiritual renewal. Before she left, she shared a few helpful resources for those wanting to explore sabbath rhythms in everyday life. Check out the Rediscovering Sabbath handout, and if you’re looking for summer reading, take a look at The Sacred Slow by Alicia Britt Chole and The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer. A quick Google search will lead you to even more tools from both authors.

Sabbath isn’t about checking out—it’s about tuning in. When we slow down, we start to notice the things that really matter. This week, ask yourself: What am I resting from—and what am I resting for?

Calling all men—this is your invitation to get away, lean in, and be strengthened. Join us for a weekend of worship, teaching, and brotherhood that’s all about growing in faith and walking boldly with Jesus.

It’s more than an event—it’s a reset.

The Island Pregnancy Centre is now three weeks into their Baby Bottle Campaign and grateful for the ongoing support. This week, they’re highlighting two key services: Postpartum Check-Ins and Professional Counselling.

Postpartum Check-Ins happen about a month after baby arrives and offer a warm, supportive space for moms to share how they’re doing. These visits include a mental health screening and help ensure moms are connected with any extra support they may need. Together, these services help create a safe space where women feel seen, heard, and supported.

Are you pursuing post-secondary Christian education? A $500 scholarship is available for students who meet the criteria and are actively involved at SCC.

One Last Thought…
Prayer isn’t just a response—it’s a rhythm. It keeps us grounded when life feels chaotic and covers us like a kind of spiritual waterproofing. As the week unfolds, stay anchored in prayer. Keep turning your thoughts into conversation with God. It might not change your circumstances right away, but it will change how you walk through them. That’s the invitation: a Jesus-shaped life, steady in every season.

Thanks for reading and walking this journey with us. We’ll see you Sunday—come expectant.

P.S. You don’t have to wait for things to calm down before you pray. Start right where you are. Anxiety might come knocking—but peace answers when you invite God into the moment.
