When Heaven Comes to Earth

The Bridge #52

Hey SCC Family !

Welcome to The Bridge Weekly #52! It’s Boxing Day—the last Thursday of the year—and we hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas filled with joy and love. As we wrap up the year, we’re excited to continue sharing how God is working in and through our church community.

In past Sunday, Colby reflected on the surprising ways Jesus entered history as a humble King, upending expectations. From Genesis to the prophecies of Zechariah and Micah, we see a Saviour whose cradle points to the cross. Jesus arrives not in power but on a donkey, redefining leadership as servanthood.

Bethlehem, the House of Bread, becomes a powerful symbol of Jesus as the Bread of Life, foreshadowing His ultimate sacrifice. Even the manger points to a King who chose humility and obscurity over status. Colby challenges us to consider: what in our lives does the gospel need to disrupt?

This isn’t just a story to admire—it’s one to live by. The authentic gospel transforms us, shifting our priorities to reflect the selfless love of Jesus. Let’s follow the humble King, finding true hope in His light that overcomes all darkness.

This week, Tracy welcomed Heather Shea on Listening & Responding to dive deeper into worship and the joy found in God’s presence. Heather shares her heart for encountering God authentically and how worship transforms us, shifting our focus from performance to relationship. Starting in January, Heather will lead a six-week course, Authentic Worship: A Journey into His Presence, to help us grow as worshipers who encounter God deeply.

You can watch the full episode here: Watch Listening & Responding.See further down for sign-up details for the worship course—let’s start the new year with hearts aligned to the Father.

This Sunday, our Pastor’s Team will share reflections for 2024, encouraging you to look back and see how God has been moving in your life. Reflection is essential—it’s only by looking back that we begin to notice His hand in our journey.

Paul reminds us we see through a glass dimly, but reflection allows us to glimpse God’s work in the light and shadows of our lives. Like the Eucharist calls us to remember, reflecting helps us recognize His presence, renewal, and guidance, shaping us day by day.

With just one Sunday left in the year, we’re taking a moment to reflect on God’s unwavering faithfulness. Thanks to your generosity, lives have been changed, relationships strengthened, and the love of Jesus shared in profound ways. As you prayerfully consider year-end giving, know that your partnership helps others encounter Jesus, grow as His disciples, and extend His love. Together, let’s trust God to use our resources for renewal and transformation as we step into the year ahead.

Hope is for what we cannot yet see, and even in struggles, God strengthens our faith and deepens our trust in Him. Jesus never disappoints, and when we rest in His presence, we’re reminded that His promises are secure. Let’s hold onto His hope and step forward in His peace.
