Where’s Your Heart Headed?
God’s not just after your habits—He’s after your heart.

Hey there SCC Family !
Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol 2. Issue 40!
The hymn Come Thou Fount was written with honesty—prone to wander, Lord, I feel it. On Sunday, Tracy reminded us that discipleship grows in that space: the tension between our desire to follow Jesus and the patterns that pull us off course. Becoming like Him isn’t about pressure—it’s about staying close. Letting the Spirit shape us from within. Asking hard questions. Returning, often. And learning to live with a heart that’s soft and open to His voice.
Miss the message? This week’s blog offers a thoughtful reflection on the ways we drift and the gentle invitation to return. Tracy’s words will help you pause, pay attention, and stay open to the work of the Spirit in your everyday life. | Prefer to listen? The Between the Shores podcast is up now. Tracy and Colby reflect on Sunday’s message, talk about the small ways we drift, and share how staying connected to Jesus helps us walk in step with the Spirit each day. |

We’re looking forward to hearing from Dr. Mike Hutchings as part of the Healing Trauma Conference. He carries a message of hope and restoration—rooted in the love of Jesus and the power of the Spirit to bring real healing. Come ready to receive.

Connect Groups Are Coming Together - Joel’s been connecting with leaders and shaping a new season of community—and things are starting to fall into place. Some groups have already kicked off, and we’re excited for what’s ahead.
On Sunday, October 19, Joel will be speaking about the heart behind Connect Groups, and you’ll have a chance to explore them firsthand at our Connect Fair after the service. It’s a great opportunity to meet leaders, ask questions, and find a group that fits.
Here’s a sneak peek at one returning interest group:

Looking Toward Year-End
We’re heading into the final stretch of the year—and we’ve got reason to be encouraged. Giving is up, ministry is growing, and together we’re making an impact. Darren, our treasurer, put together a short video update with where we stand financially and how your giving is making a difference. It’s honest, hopeful, and worth a watch.
Every quarter, we give 10% of general fund giving to a mission focus:
Q1 → Kaleo International, helping fund roofs for growing churches in Sudan
Q2 → YWAM, supporting Jazmyn Gallant, Isaac Gillis, and the Cairns family in their missions training and outreach
Q3 → Loaves & Fishes, serving hot meals and offering dignity to our neighbours in need
![]() | Every act of generosity makes a difference—and together, it’s been adding up. So far this quarter, we’ve given $2,799 to support Loaves & Fishes, a local ministry providing warm meals and practical care to those in need. Thank you for being part of the story. |

Come Join the Team Our teens are full of energy, questions, and potential—and they need people who are willing to show up and walk alongside them. Elev8 Youth is looking for volunteers to help create a safe, welcoming space on Thursday nights. Whether you’re into games, conversations, or just being a steady presence, there’s a place for you. Talk to Colby if you’re interested—we’d love to have you on the team. | ![]() |

Drift doesn’t always begin with defiance—it often starts with distraction. Sabbath invites us to slow down and notice where our hearts have been leaning. Rest creates space to listen, to breathe, and to be real with God again.

One of the clearest ways to follow Jesus is to spend time in His Word—and this fall’s plan is a great place to start. The Bible Recap began a 3-month journey through the New Testament on October 1, starting with the life of Jesus in the Gospels. You can still jump in anytime. Follow along on YouVersion, or grab a printed copy of the plan from the Hub wall this Sunday. Find the plan here! | ![]() |

From Sunday to Today
Following Jesus takes attention. Noticing the small shifts. Asking the quiet questions. Staying open to His voice. As we move through the week, let’s keep coming back to the simple invitation: abide. The Spirit is always at work, gently leading, always present. Keep listening—He knows the way.
See You Sunday- We love doing life and faith with you. Let’s keep showing up, lifting Jesus high, and living it out together.

P.S. Every week is full of opportunities to practice the way of Jesus—small choices, quiet courage, steady faith. You’re not in it alone. We’re walking this out together.
