Who Told You That?
A gentle question that reshapes how we listen.

Hey there SCC Family !
Welcome to The Bridge Weekly Vol 3. Issue 4!
Ever notice how some voices in our lives don’t raise their volume, they just refuse to leave? Sunday’s teaching invited us to pay attention to the ones shaping our inner life, especially when things slow down or we’re worn thin. Joel took us back to Genesis 3, where shame enters the story and God responds with nearness, care, and a simple question that still reaches us today: Who told you that?
This teaching reminds us that faith is formed by the voices we trust. Shame names us in ways God never has, while Jesus speaks with clarity, orientation, and a sense of enough. Like sheep learning their shepherd’s voice, recognition grows through relationship and a willingness to listen.
A thoughtful pause in the middle of a busy week, this blog explores how the voices we trust shape our sense of worth, direction, and belonging. It’s an easy read that invites you to slow down, reflect, and listen more closely to the voice of Jesus as you move through your days. | A relaxed, honest conversation that continues Sunday’s teaching and opens up the ideas a little further. Between the Shores creates space to reflect, ask questions, and sit with what it means to recognize God’s voice in everyday life, whether you’re walking, driving, or taking a quiet moment. |

Pre-Service Prayer
Our prayer team will be available from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. before the service. If you have a prayer need or would like someone to pray with you, you are welcome to meet the team near the Prayer Room in the Great Room. It is a simple way to quiet your heart and invite God’s presence before the morning begins.
This Sunday, Tracy will be sharing with us as we gather for worship, Scripture, and time together as a church family. Come a little early if you’re able, find your seat, and take a moment to settle your heart as we begin.
![]() | Kids Church meets in the Kids Wing, and classes get started right at the beginning of the service. The Kids Wing door closes once classes are underway, so arriving early helps kids ease into their space and supports our amazing Kids Church team as they care for your children. |
The Bible Recap has already begun, and it’s still a great time to jump in. If you’re looking for a steady, life-giving rhythm in the Word, this offers a simple and approachable way to begin and stay engaged. It’s designed to meet you right where you are and help Scripture become part of your everyday life. | ![]() |
This week, churches across our city are joining together in prayer as part of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Each day, a short devotion will be shared on the Summerside and Area Christian Council Facebook page, offering a simple way to pause and pray alongside others in our community. Several local churches will also be opening their doors throughout the week for prayer services, creating space to seek God together across traditions. The week will conclude with a combined service on Saturday, January 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Summerside Community Church, followed by a light lunch with donations supporting Loaves and Fishes.

Save the Date! Join us for an evening of community, shared stories, and vision as we take time to reflect on where God has been at work and look ahead to what’s coming next. This will be a relaxed, meaningful gathering with space to listen, connect, and imagine together.Refreshments will be provided.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” —Psalm 46:10
Stillness rarely shows up on its own. Most of the time, we have to choose it. A deep breath. A slower step. A moment of quiet that reminds us God is near and attentive. As you move through the coming days, let rest be a gentle practice, not a task to complete, trusting that God meets us in the pause.

Dorothy Fry is someone who quietly makes a big difference around here. She serves on the Missions Team, welcomes people as a faithful door greeter, and gives her time to Loaves and Fishes as both a board member and team volunteer. Dorothy has a steady willingness to step in wherever help is needed, and her care for people and love for community is a gift we’re grateful for.
Looking to get more involved? Joining a team is a great way to build community, discover your strengths, and help others experience Jesus along the way. From making coffee to running slides, greeting at the door to helping with kids—there’s a place for you. Let’s find it together.

As the week unfolds…
Pay attention to the voices shaping your thoughts and responses. Make space for the quiet, steady voice of Jesus that brings clarity, care, and truth. Small moments of listening can gently reorient us toward life with Him.
Thanks for being part of what God is building here. We love walking this out with you. See you Sunday.

P.S. If you find yourself replaying a familiar story about who you are or what’s expected of you this week, pause for a moment and ask the question God asked first: Who told you that? There’s grace in slowing down long enough to listen again.
